Job Summary

Leads the creation of logical data models from many systems and processes on Kennesaw State University's campus. Provides support for the Enterprise Data Warehouse and monitors data warehousing system to ensure reliability and accuracy of information loaded into the databases and data lakes. Analyzes the logical and physical database models, and ensure models are in accordance with standards. Generates and prepares reports to support business objectives. Performs analysis and testing of semantic models and investigates any data load failures or data retrieval issues.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: -
1. Develops conceptual, logical, and physical data models for business intelligence efforts. Ensure that all relevant aspects of data model (granularity, etc.) are taken into account
2. Analyzes the logical and physical database models and guarantee models are in accordance with standards
3. Responsible for leading and facilitating communication with campus customers, UITS staff, and other stakeholders, incorporating business requirements into data model design
4. Provides support for data warehousing initiatives and monitor data warehousing system to ensure reliability and accuracy of information loaded into the databases
5. Translates technical aspects of data modeling (facts, dimensions, snowflaking, etc.) into language that non-technical users can understand
6. Works with both technologists as well as non-technical users with ease and approachability
7. Makes recommendations on data maintenance tactics for slowly changing dimensions, data roll-off, archival planning, etc.
8. Designs models optimized for both storage (warehouse) and query and retrieval (end user marts)
9. Performs analysis and testing of relational databases and investigates any data load failures or data retrieval issues
10. Understands and balances business requirements and user expectations

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or related field

Required Experience
Seven (7) years of related IT experience demonstrating a progression of increasing responsibility experience including data modeling and database management

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications
An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field

Preferred Experience
Previous experience working in higher education and/or institutional research
Experience working with Ellucian's Banner, PeopleSoft, Oracle, etc.
Experience designing and managing enterprise data warehouses and information systems
Data modeling experience
Experience with database management systems (management and query)

Proposed Salary

The budgeted salary range is $ 99,500.00 to $120,000. Offers are based on relevant experience.

KNOWLEDGE
Conceptual, Logical and Physical Data Modeling
Knowledge and experience in implementing Kimball data warehouse design principals
Demonstrated expertise in the following tools, technologies and methodologies: Data design and modeling, Data warehousing, Operational data stores, Relational databases (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle RDBMS), Data Integration/ETL tools (e.g., Oracle Data Integrator, SSIS), SQL (PL/SQL, T-SQL), Business analytics and reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Argos, SAS)
Extensive knowledge of master data management, enterprise data management, information systems, business analytics and reporting tools, planning, operations, and lifecycle management

SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
