Job Description: Data Scientists are responsible for researching, designing, building, and managing systems that collect and process large quantities of multimodal data to produce Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions that can be integrated into our domain expertise. Applies foundations in mathematics, computer engineering, data science, and mission-domain knowledge to verify and validate derived information quality attributes. Solves engineering design problems as part of a team using high performance computing and data-driven mathematical models and simulations. Develops data focused solutions that solve a variety of customer mission challenges including, but not limited to, computer vision, signal understanding, natural language processing, sensemaking, and autonomous systems.

Essential Functions:
  • Working onsite with a team of local and remote engineers.
  • Excellent organization and multi-tasking abilities with the ability to effectively plan and organize projects and manage and resolve conflicting priorities.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly (written and verbal) to technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Integrates component-level features to improve autonomy in CI/CD pipelines and data workflows.
  • Demonstrates experience in data platforms involving implementation of end-to-end data pipelines.
  • Experience with database design and implementation, data curation, and preprocessing, general exploratory data analysis (EDA), hardware and software deployment, and integration of Machine Learning (ML) models into the overall solution.
  • Provides guidance and technical expertise to other engineers and leadership.
  • Ability to work multiple different tasks and timelines, to include long term studies and tasks to same-day deliveries.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers to ensure design and implementation meet customer requirements.
  • Utilize software engineering principles, processes, and industry best practices with the ability to apply them in daily work. Read, analyze and interpret requirements and common government specifications.
  • Interact with systems, software, and program management on specifications/requirements weekly using reporting tools such as Jira.
  • Ensure that products/projects delivered meet customer requirements and specifications.
  • Drive process improvements to aid in team coordination and maintain delivery schedule.
  • Communicate with leadership on status, issues, milestones, and successes.
  • Keeping abreast of current technology; conducting technology knowledge shares.

Qualifications:
  • Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility and willing to obtain a CI Poly once hired.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or Engineering equivalent with 9 years of experience; or 7+ years relevant experience with a Graduate Degree.
  • Applicable experience includes the following:
    • 6+ years of experience working in Linux.
    • 4+ years of experience with SQL or similar, Python, CUDA, and/or Bash scripting.
  • Ability to work in Python in Windows and Linux development environments.
  • Extensive experience with database creation, development, and maintenance.


Preferred Additional Skills:
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written desired.
  • Mathematical background with relevancy to signal processing, image processing, computer vision, or statistical analysis.
  • Image Science background.
  • Synthetic data generation experience.
  • Cloud computing experience i.e. AWS RDS.
  • Experience with Natural Language Processing.
  • Experience with REST APIs.
  • Experience with hardware and software deployment, and integration of Machine Learning (ML) models into the overall solution.
  • 6+ years of experience with Python or similar high-level language on Unix/Linux.
  • Strong Data Science skills (ex: managing and curating large datasets, statistical methods for analysis, familiar with Python libraries like Pandas and Numpy).
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary team, adhering to Agile development processes.
