Describe the function your group supports from an LOB perspective:

Internal Audit testing of adherence to the Model Risk Management program. Testing covers both first line of defense (model owner, model developer, etc.) adherence to the Model Lifecycle Procedure and second line of defense (Model Risk Management Group) model risk program oversight and review/testing/validation of first line of defense model risk management activities. The quant role performs independent assessment of the statistical soundness of model methodologies, assumptions, risks and limitations of Client's entire model inventory to support the audit teams.

Describe the dynamic of the team and where this candidate will fit into the overall environment:

The Model Risk Audit Team currently consists of seven team members in a remote work environment. The candidate(s) will work independently and report to an experienced quantitative analyst who will assign, guide, and review quantitative and qualitative model review and testing activities in an agile environment.

The ability to clearly and concisely communicate across the three lines of defense (first line model owners and model developers, second line Model Risk Management, and other third line Internal Audit team members). Ability to prioritize work on a risk based approach. Ability to multi-task and manage priorities across multiple deadlines.

Does this position require any degrees or certifications for the candidate to be successful?

STEM degree, master's degree preferred.

Candidate Technical and skills profile:

Role and the key responsibilities in order of which they will be doing daily:

a)
• Performs complex quantitative analyses and models development to support decision-making by running quantitative strategies.

b)
• Develops new model frameworks by supporting the line of business. Refines, monitors, and validates existing models. Conducts on-going communication with model owners and model developers during the course of the review. Works with large data to create models.

c)
• Performs advanced qualitative and quantitative assessments on all aspects of models including theoretical aspects, model design and implementation as well as data quality and integrity. Reviews reports and associated quantitative analysis. Validates existing models and assesses model risks.

d)
• Evaluates identified model risks and reaches conclusions on strengths and limitations of the model.

e)
• Prepares and analyzes detailed documents for validation and regulatory compliance, using applicable templates.

Required must have technical skills, tools, or experience:

Prior modeling experience preferred, modeling analytics experience (one to three years experience in financial services modeling preferred or advanced degree), some familiarity with regulations such as OCC 2011-12 and FR 11-7, fair lending and/or other financial services experience

Preferred or nice to have skills:

Excellent written and/or oral communication skills; firsthand experience in model development, model monitoring, model risk management program governance and oversight, and/or model risk testing.

Interviews:

Likely a two interview process, with the first interview being the Model Risk Audit Director, and the second interview being with one individual or a small panel from a peer perspective.
