Job Description:

This Lead Electrical Engineering position will be responsible for leading a growing and diverse team of Engineers working on projects requiring architect receivers, transmitters, transceivers and transponders used on satellites, orbital vehicles, and launch vehicles.

Essential Functions:
  • Designs and develop RF circuit card assemblies (CCA) and associated systems. Optimizes RF systems to serve internal and external customers.
  • Capable of following established design practices and leading/participating in system level or CCA reviews, e.g., requirements, architecture, and design reviews both internal and external with customers.
  • Evaluates RF systems processes and work standards, suggests measures to ensure compliance, and identifies and implements improvements.
  • Supports technology roadmaps and IRAD efforts.
  • Supports bid and proposal activities, including cost and schedule estimation.
  • Identifies design risks of electrical engineering projects.
  • Provides engineering support for delivered products.
  • Evaluates design tools and provides upgrade rationale based on return-on-investment analyses.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience, Graduate/Master's Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience is required.
  • Knowledge and use of RF test equipment including spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, and complex waveform generators is a must.
  • Extensive relevant experience in or considered to be a subject matter expert in at least one of the following:
    • Reference or source generation including programmable synthesizers and/or phase locked loops (PLLs),
    • Low noise amplifiers (LNAs) or receivers including down-converters, and/or
    • Solid state power amplifiers (SSPAs) capable of producing approximately 20 watts or more.

Preferred Additional Skills:
  • Experience using Siemens ADS and Xpedition, HFSS, MATLAB and PSpice.
  • Proficient in MS Office and Visio.
  • Radio Frequency (RF) design experience using frequency bands S, X, and/or Ka, using complex modulation schemes, with modern design and analysis tools such as ADS and HFSS in at least one of the following:
    • Low noise amplifiers (LNAs)
    • Solid state power amplifiers (SSPAs)
    • Clocking/synthesizers/PLLs
    • Up and down-link modeling.
