Job Summary

Provides functional guidance and training to Medical Assistant and Patient Management staff of assigned physician practice.

Prepares staff schedules, establishes work priorities, reviews and monitors resource utilization and recommends employee schedule adjustments to ensure coverage.

Delegates and assures routine stock work such as shelving supplies, monitoring supply levels and checking for outdated supplies.

Initiates paperwork to reorder supplies, as necessary. Responsible for all Log Books following established policies and procedures to meet minimum safety standard of JCAHO/OSHA.

Coordinates all safety training including CPR and all other annual safety training. Responsible for the delegation of Medicine room (or sample room) duties including the care of sample meds, keeping all expired meds off the shelves, etc.

Provides general supervision, performs the work of and provides leadership for the Patient Management staff engaged in scheduling, registration, insurance verification and financial counseling of patients in the physician practice.

Ensures patient registrations conform to eligibility criteria and standards defined by the health care facility, physicians and third party payers. Functions as a resource person for physician practice staff.

Resolves complex and/or sensitive problems and reviews and recommends changes in departmental policies and procedures. Performs the duties of the Patient Management staff and Medical Assistant, as needed.

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an approved Medical Assistant training program.

2. One to two years of progressively more responsible medical office and clerical experience.

3. Leadership experience strongly preferred.
