Responsible for the fulfillment of the current medical secretary job description. In addition, this person is responsible to work alongside the Office Manager to assist in the day to day functioning of the office with a focus on coordination of the medical secretary staff. In addition, for those offices without a lead clinical resource, this position will assist the manager in the daily operational job tasks from that area.

Responsibilities

- Responsible for the coordination and scheduling of the Medical Secretary staff in the office ensuring the office is staffed for all open hours.

- Gather, as needed, time off requests entering these into the schedules and distribute to staff after Office Manager approval.

- Work with leads in other offices as needed to share staffing across the enterprise.

- Acts as the on-site leader in the absence of the Manager, making on the spot decisions as needed while forwarding those with higher levels of approval to the Manager

- Keep the Manager apprised of all situations either at the routinely scheduled meeting and/or urgently as needed based on the issue/concern.

Qualifications

Education/Accredited Programs
  • Associates degree preferred - in the absence of an associate's degree, High School diploma with 2 years medical practice experience will be considered.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in a medical practice environment with exposure to all aspects of the role
  • Supervisory experience preferred


Skills/Abilities
  • Ability to use a computer and business software i.e. MS Word, MS Excel including EMR
  • Proficiency with medical terminology
  • Ability to effectively communicate routine and sensitive information
  • Respond to questions from staff, providers, p[patients
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions and solve problems as they relate to responsibilities
  • Demonstrates leadership and delegations skills


Licenses/Certificates/Registrations:

Valid driver's license

Salary Range
The expected base rate for this Glens Falls, New York, United States-based position is $18.00 to $25.00 per hour. Exact rate is determined on a case-by-case basis commensurate with experience level, as well as education and certifications pertaining to each position which may be above the listed job requirements.
