Lead Quality Technician, Cell Manufacturing

The position will be based in Austin, Texas at Tesla's GFTX facility. The ideal candidate for this position will not only have strong analytical skills, but also demonstrated experience running/utilizing a broad range of tools and equipment.


Responsibilities

• First point of contact for Quality issues in designated areas and coordindates/delegates activities of the Quality Technicians
• Lead group discussions online health providing support and guidance to line Quality Technicians giving visibility to process, production, and Manufacturing Engineers
• Work closely with Manufacturing, Process, Quality teams to establish processes and procedures that will ensure consistently high quality
• Train & coach Quality Technicians on Quality Instructions, tools, root cause issues, corrective action and systems for the area
• Work with Quality Supervisor and Engineers to review audit results to drive corrective action with cross-functional teams
• Serve as the on-shift subject matter expert for process and product specifications that define quality in assigned areas
• Analyze and interpret high failure product data independently, effectively escalating & root causing fall-out alongside line Quality Technicians

Requirements

• Demonstrated leadership skills and experience with quality systems in a high-volume manufacturing environment
• Experienced in QS-9000, ISO/TS 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, DFMEA, PFMEA preferred
• Strong aptitude with electronic test and measurement systems
• Proficiency at reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams and GD&T
• Ability to effectively communicate common issues and defects to leadership and management assisting with solutions
• Ability to manage and give direction in critical situations while keeping composure
• Detail oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills
