Position Number: 126430 Position Title (Classification Title): Lead Teacher, Child Development 126430 Working Title: Child Development Lead Teacher Job Summary: The Lead Teacher, Child Development position is responsible for the daily operation of an assigned age group program including pedagogy, classroom management, and direction of support staff. The incumbent is responsible for providing instruction and learning activities in a classroom in accordance with all state requirements including administering the ASQ assessment. The Lead Teacher, Child Development is responsible for one or more room assignments working with child development teachers, teacher assistants, or interns and for planning, developing, and supervising the programs for the classroom and outdoor environments. Department Educ Research Ctr For Child Dev FLSA: Exempt Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of relevant experience. Position Qualifications: Completion of DCF 40 hours of mandated child care training. Using computer, copier and scanner; answering phone calls Preferred Qualifications Successful experience as an Infants and toddlers classroom teacher. Familiarity with NAEYC developmentally appropriate curricula for infant, toddler or pre-kindergarten children. Essential Functions / Job Duties:
  • 60% - Coordinate and deliver a developmentally appropriate planned program of activities for children to support growth and development; prepare and post daily schedules, weekly lesson plans and classroom specific handbook for parents; plan special parents events each semester, one Center wide and one classroom; communicate with parents in positive and respectful engagement; conduct bi-annual developmental assessments of children and engage in daily observations and meet check points through the online assessment software; conduct parent conferences to review assessments, one in Fall and one in Spring; review assessment data and carry out activities for school improvement plan - (Essential)
  • 30% - Attend staff meetings and annual staff professional development day; supervise all staff working with an age group; provide direction and supervision to practicum students placed in classroom; assist in the maintenance of supply inventory, equipment, and facility. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Oversee Center closing one day a week. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Assume other responsibilities as assigned by or in the absence of the Director or the Managing Lead Teacher. - (Essential)
