Lead Teacher - Family & Consumer Sci. (Early Childhood Education) - 2024-25 SY

General Statement of Duties

This is a 12-month or 260-day teaching assignment.

This unique teaching position includes instruction of high school students as well as preschool children enrolled at the Springer Preschool Academy. The Springer Preschool Academy is a high quality, full-day preschool lab operated in conjunction with the Early Childhood Education program at the ACE Center and this position will serve as a lead teacher for this academy. .

This vacancy is for the 2024-25 SY and is open until filled.

Essential Duties

In addition to the standard teaching duties this assignment will serve as the team leader for the early childhood education program and springer preschool academy.

The physical demands of this assignment include the ability to sit and stand for extended periods and the ability to lift and move items weighing up to 25 pounds.

Professional Expectations:

• Plans daily instructional activities for secondary students, demonstrating knowledge of subject matter and using state Standards of Learning and the curriculum of the district
• Uses current school and division data to plan instruction
• Develops formative and summative tests, using multiple tools to assess student learning on an ongoing basis, and alters instruction to meet group and individual needs
• Maintains order within the classroom and school with proactive classroom management and a well-organized learning environment
• Maintains records of student performance and attendance, and communicates this effectively with students and their parents
• Selects, requisitions, and uses a variety of instructional materials to stimulate learning and meet the needs of all students
• Communicates and coordinates instruction with other staff (special ed, gifted, remediation staff, etc.) relative to student learning
• Stays abreast of current educational trends and best practices as these relate to classroom instruction and effective schools
• Maintains professional manner when interacting with students, parents, patrons, community agencies and colleagues
• Incorporates and models appropriate use of technology to support instruction and student learning
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Candidates must currently hold or be eligible for a Family and Consumer Science professional teaching license or technical professional license.
• Applicants with a bachelor's degree, relevant college coursework, and passing Praxis test scores will be considered.
• Candidates with a background in early childcare services are encouraged to apply.

Additional Information

This is a 12-month or 260-day teaching assignment. This posting is for the 2024-25 SY with an July 1, 2024, contractual start date. Annual compensation will be prorated to the official start date.

Minimum annual starting salary:

• $55,897.48 (Bachelors)
• $58,580.71 (Masters)
