Under general supervision of the technical or operations manager, incumbent provides support to technical and support staff in the Imaging environment. Assists with coordination of staff schedule and ensures efficient day-to-day operation of the Imaging environment. Incumbent assists in ensuring quality assurance of services, competence of staff and maintenance of imaging equipment. Ensures policy and procedures are followed and workflow standards are met.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensures proper quality and quantity of work done by technical and support staff.

Assures proper completion of records by technologist in Epic for billing and recording purposes. Reviews and monitors worklists to ensure all exams are completed.

Communicates and coordinates with staff of previous and next shift regarding equipment problems, waiting patients and other like information.

Ensures proper stock of supplies, including IV's, contrast, saline, linen, and other supplies needed to for operations.

Functions as a liaison between physicians and support staff, explaining department procedures, resolving problems and coordinating activities which affect patient care.

Understands and shows the ability to interpret general MRI safety policies and procedures as necessary. Instructs patients and visitors in MR safety procedures as needed.

Notifies Radiology Department engineers and vendor service personnel of equipment failure.

Ensure that all Department, Hospital, and JCAHO guidelines are met.

Performs the duties of a Technologist as primary job responsibility with allotted administration time per week to complete other duties.

SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

• Excellent computer skill

• Knowledge of anatomy, cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, medical terminology.

• Knowledge of the principles of MRI safety.

• Knowledge of universal precautions.

• Effective interpersonal and communications skills.

• Attention to detail.

• Ability to provide compassionate care to patients.

• Ability to recognize emergency situations and respond appropriately.

• Ability to lift over 20 lbs.

Qualifications

Must be a licensed and/or registered MRI Technologist, Nuclear Medicine Technologist or CT Technologist.

Required:

  • Radiography CT, or NM license in the state of MA (unless certified in MR)
  • ARRT (N), (CT) or (MR)
  • BLS
  • Bachelor's preferred
  • Should possess 3-5 years of related experience
