Position Summary

At Stony Brook Medicine, a Lead Technology Services Technician is a valuable member of our team, who provides technical guidance and professional administrative support to program managers, department heads or administrative officers, faculty, support staff and to the University. Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior communication and organizational skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence.

Duties of a Lead Technology Services Technician may include the following but are not limited to:
  • Image, Install, configure, maintain and secure PC's, Laptops and other devices on our domain.
  • Install, upgrade and patch Operating Systems (Windows, iOS and Android) on computers, laptops and other devices.
  • Deploy software upgrades across the network using deployment software like Script Logic. Manage the deployment to make sure appropriate devices receive the update.
  • Troubleshoot and repair PC's, laptops, AV, and mobile devices and peripherals.
  • Install, troubleshoot and repair network printers.
  • Participate in IT Projects as assigned.
  • Provide updates to managers and technical guidance to coworkers. Work from within the Help Desk system and update tickets in a timely manner.
  • Provide top level customer support to our customers including both remote and in-person support. Communicate work completed clearly with our customers.
  • Provide insight and testing on new hardware and software that the organization may use in the future.
  • Operating State Vehicles to support multiple locations/offices.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field and at least 5 years of experience in a technician support environment or, in lieu of the Bachelor's degree, an Associate's degree and at least 10 years of experience in a technician support environment
  • At least 1 year of IT technical support experience in a healthcare environment within the IT department
  • Demonstrated experience with Computer hardware and Operating systems and their peripherials including networked printers
  • Knowledge of large scale network environments and the knowledge to navigate those environments
  • Ability to work independently and in a group setting with co-workers to diagnose, solve and deploy the solution in a timely and organized manner
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Active and current NYS Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Windows and iOS Operating System experience
  • Experience with PC Imaging Software
  • Experience with Desktop Management Tools
  • Microsoft Office experience including Outlook 365
  • Microsoft Active Directory experience
  • Should be able to navigate and understand organizational units
  • Mobile care cart support experience. Should be able to perform preventative maintenance and basic troubleshooting support

  • Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services*
  • Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
  • Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen*
  • Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre-employment screenings.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $69,707 - $84,970 / year.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents SBUH's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

In addition, all UUP positions have an additional $3,400 for location,
