What You'll Do

You will be part of a dedicated team whose foundations are open communications, empowerment, innovation, teamwork, and customer success. We are looking for a motivated Hardware Engineering Leader with a passion for hardware quality and customer satisfaction to contribute to the success of our current and next-generation products in the field.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Hardware Quality and Field Failure Analysis engineering initiatives.
  • Provide and manage hardware engineering support to customer-facing and support groups and collaborate with development and validation teams, manufacturing, and vendors as needed.
  • Direct the fixing and root cause analysis of hardware issues, including electrical circuits, board signal integrity, power circuits, programmable components, and mechanical problems.
  • Facilitate communication and creative problem-solving to identify root causes of customer issues, categorize failures, and implement corrective measures.
  • Lead the creation of circuit designs and the generation of detailed schematics, where applicable, to improve product quality.
  • Actively engage in design reviews to enable early detection of design issues before product release.
  • Effectively manage vendor relationships, ensuring suitability and performance of high-quality components and alignment to project specifications.
  • Create effective outbound communications to management and customer-facing teams.
  • Lead a dedicated team of Hardware Quality and Failure Analysis engineers on a mission of continuous quality improvement to enhance customer satisfaction and product success.

  • You'll also interact multi-functionally internally with teams working on hardware and software development, product validation, manufacturing NPI, custom development, and contract manufacturing at all product life cycle phases.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in hardware design and development.
  • Experience in managing teams and/or leading technical projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in hardware engineering in the networking equipment industry.
  • Solid technical knowledge and ability to guide technical failure analysis investigations and design optimization
  • Experience leading hardware projects and programs, with an understanding of the end-to-end product lifecycle from concept to production release and product sustaining
  • Familiarity with contemporary hardware interfaces, CPU, USB, PCIe, Ethernet, high-speed SerDes, power and signal integrity, low-voltage, high-current power supplies, and distribution
  • Familiarity with mechanical and thermal designs, constraints, trade-offs, and how they affect product performance and reliability

When available, the salary range posted for this position reflects the projected hiring range for new hire, full-time salaries in U.S. and/or Canada locations, not including equity or benefits. For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Hiring ranges for sales positions include base and incentive compensation target. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. Applicants may not be eligible for the full salary range based on their U.S. or Canada hiring location. U.S. employees have to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings. Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday, plus a day off for their birthday. Employees accrue up to 20 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) each year and have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues without tapping into their PTO. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community. Employees are also able to purchase company stock through our Employee Stock Purchase Program.

Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:

.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;

1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;

1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.

For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
