The Department of Social, Cultural, and Justice Studies at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga College of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a Lecturer of Criminal Justice beginning August 1, 2025.

The Department of Social, Cultural, and Justice Studies (SCJS), within the College of Arts and Sciences, offers B.A. or B.S. degrees in Anthropology, a minor in Geography, a B.S. in Sociology, and a B.S. in Criminal Justice (including an online B.S. program). The department also offers a graduate program (M.S.) in Criminal Justice. We have approximately 25 tenured, tenure-track, and lecturer faculty in the department that serve over 500 majors across our disciplines.

Qualifications:

Successful candidates will possess the following requirements:

  • MA or MS in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or closely related field.
  • Ability to teach introductory/advanced courses in Criminal Justice, particularly in general education courses. Area of specialization is open, but preference will be given to candidates who can teach Introduction to Criminal Justice, Gender-Based Violence, and Race and Crime.
  • Teaching experience and/or willingness to teach required courses in the Criminal Justice undergraduate curriculum. Previous experience in online teaching is desirable.
  • Willingness to engage in meaningful service activities.
  • Candidates should also be willing to engage in a variety of instructional modalities, including online instruction.
  • Willingness to engage in assisting the department and university in reaching additional goals as specified in UTC's Strategic Plan.
