Lecturer of English

The English Department at Coastal Carolina University seeks applicants for a position at the rank of Lecturer beginning in Fall of 2024. Primary teaching responsibilities will be in first-year composition, though an applicant with the appropriate skills may also have opportunities to teach creative writing and/or business and professional writing. The English Department, a supportive teacher-scholar community, includes a two-semester program in first-year composition; a vibrant creative writing program with a regular reading series and an online literary journal, Waccamaw; and a growing program in Digital Culture and Design. We seek a candidate with a breadth of teaching experience, an investment in student success, and an interest in rapidly changing technologies and their impact on academic reading and writing.

The successful candidate will ideally hold a Ph.D. in English or a related field (including but not limited to creative writing, rhetoric and composition, or technical and professional communication), will have training and experience in first-year composition, and will have at least three years of college-level teaching experience, the teaching load will be four (4) courses per semester (fall and spring). Teaching assignments may include evening and distance-learning courses. Appointments are renewable annually and include benefits.
