Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

Department Information

The Department of Software Engineering and Game Development is a unit within the College of Computing and Software Engineering and represents fields at the forefront of high-impact developments. The department takes pride in our student-centered degree and certificate programs, which are enhanced by state-of-the-art instructional technology and applied research activities. The programs are of exceptional quality and are accessible to both traditional and non-traditional students. The department houses three programs totaling more than 1300 students. The Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering and the Bachelor of Science in Computer Game Design and Development are both accredited by ABET. In addition, the Department offers an M.S. degree in Software Engineering, several undergraduate minors, and several graduate certificates. The Department also participates in the Ph.D. in Computer Science program. The department also oversees the First Year Experience (FYE) program that governs and manages the introductory programming sequence for all Computing majors in the College. The department has over 23 full-time faculty and 2 staff members. The faculty are successful in research and external funding activities in different fields of software engineering, game design, and augmented and virtual reality. Job Summary

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure track Lecturer of Software Engineering faculty position in the Department of Software Engineering and Game Development with a preferred start date of August 2024.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities for the position include teaching and service work with an emphasis on enhancing the teaching mission of the department.

The appointment is for nine months and includes the possibility of teaching in summer. The teaching duties will primarily include teaching three first-year courses per semester with approximately 120 students per course. Courses are taught on both the Marietta campus and Kennesaw Campus of Kennesaw State University and are offered during daytime and evening hours. Faculty are expected to teach in a variety of instructional modalities, including face-to-face, hybrid, and online.

Other responsibilities include:
  • Participating in course and program development activities
  • Working collegially with colleagues
  • Student teaching/clinical supervision
  • Advising

Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of an earned Master's degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Computing or a closely-related field is required.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in teaching online or hybrid college-level courses
