The Legal Affairs Department is seeking (1) Legal Affairs Assistant II to join the already awesome team taking the Legal Services Department to the next level of excellence!

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO

The ideal candidate provides the following duties:

• Respond to records requests including Georgia Open Records Act requests, subpoenas, requests for production, court orders and search warrants. Coordinate with other departments within the University for record retrieval. Assess and process fees associated with search, retrieval, redaction, and other costs related to requests. Maintain related files, status spreadsheets, and correspondence.

• Train and supervise front office Senior Administrative Coordinator. Back up for front office Senior Administrative Coordinator.

• Support IP attorney with Material Transfer and Non-Disclosure Agreements. Screen for controlled substances related to MT As on Visual Compliance website. Monitor: Various iterations of agreements and route final version to appropriate authorities for execution. Maintain MT A/NDA agreement files, status spreadsheets, and correspondence.

• Maintain Student Bankruptcy files; submit proof of claim documents on behalf of the University. Work with Student Accounts to ensure hold and collection efforts are appropriate to bankruptcy status. Process checks received from the Chapter 13 Trustee. Maintain related files, status spreadsheets, and correspondence.

• Initial review of select contracts. Screen and route standard affiliation agreements for signature.

• Conduct legal research and information gathering. Maintain University litigation files, status spreadsheets, and correspondence. Coordinate preservation of information efforts in response to Ante Litem notifications.

• Provide executive support for University Attorney. Coordinate her calendar. Maintain student/staff/faculty appeal and grievance files. Assist the University community by providing general information about University policies and procedures. Notary Public duties. Maintain department budget and personnel records. State, Foundation, and Peard account reconciliation. Process Travel Authorizations and Travel Reimbursements. Process payments for GORA requests, subpoenas, royalties, and restitution.

Qualifications:

Minimum Hiring Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and 4 or more years of related experience or a combination of education and related work experience.

Preferred Hiring Qualifications:

Knowledge of Georgia Open Records Act, Knowledge of Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, Knowledge of Federal Bankruptcy law as it pertains to educational debt, PantherMart, Spectrum, ADP, Notary Public
