Job Description:
The Legal Assistant will play a key role in supporting a team of attorneys by performing complex secretarial, administrative, and legal tasks. This position requires a proactive individual with a strong understanding of legal processes and excellent organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leverage technology to optimize attorney productivity and efficiency.
- Determine and implement the most effective methods for completing tasks.
- Prepare and manage documents, including formatting, editing, and transmitting using office software.
- Understand and apply legal processes for accurate document preparation and adherence to deadlines.
- Coordinate and manage e-filings and other court filings as required.
- Handle correspondence, including mail, faxes, and scanned documents.
- Ensure proper filing and storage of documents in both digital and physical formats.
- Maintain and organize daily calendars, scheduling appointments, meetings, and travel.
- Update and manage Outlook contacts for attorneys.
- Assist with file management, including opening, closing, and conflict checks.
- Support attorneys with timesheets, billing matters, and reimbursement requests.
- Maintain professional interactions with clients and court personnel, demonstrating discretion and judgment.
- Adhere to regular attendance and flexibility for overtime as needed by litigation demands.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree or relevant certification preferred.
- Significant relevant experience may substitute for educational requirements.
- Proficiency in office software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and PDF.
- Familiarity with legal practices, terminology, and court procedures.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a business environment.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and work under pressure.
- Excellent typing, spelling, grammar, and clerical skills.
- Capable of organizing and maintaining files and operating standard office equipment.
