Summary

The Biological Sciences program invites applications for a LEO I Lecturer, non-tenure-track appointment which begins September 1, 2024 through December 31, 2024 for the Fall 2024 term. Contractual full-time rate per term is $25,500; term salary is dependent on number of courses taught and course effort percentage, up to 33.3% appointment for the Fall 2024 term. The successful candidate will be comfortable teaching in person modality for the following course:

BCHM/BIOL/CHEM 370 section 001: Principles of Biochemistry I lecture at 33.3% effort being taught M/W from 12:00 PM- 01:45 PM

Required Qualifications*

  • Master's degree or Ph. D. in Biochemistry or a related field
  • Previous teaching experience


Desired Qualifications*

  • Advanced Knowledge in Biochemistry and Related Fields: Extensive knowledge in biochemistry, molecular biology, and related fields, demonstrated through research, teaching, or professional experience. This includes familiarity with cellular structures, macromolecules, enzymology, bioenergetics, intermediary metabolism, and gene regulation.
  • Experience in Instructional Techniques and Active Learning: Proven experience in employing diverse instructional techniques, including active learning strategies, to enhance student understanding of biochemistry concepts. This should include the use of models, simulations, and interactive approaches to facilitate student engagement and comprehension.
  • Commitment to Student Development and Learning Outcomes: A strong commitment to fostering student development and achieving learning outcomes. This involves creating an inclusive and supportive classroom environment, providing constructive feedback, and helping students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to Integrate Interdisciplinary Approaches: Capability to integrate interdisciplinary approaches in teaching, connecting concepts from genetics, physiology, organic chemistry, molecular biology, and cell biology to provide a comprehensive understanding of biochemistry.
  • Experience with Assessment and Evaluation Methods: Experience in developing and implementing effective assessment and evaluation methods to measure student learning and progress.
