The Liaison Engineering Design group is responsible for providing an optimum design solution satisfying requirements for maximum inherent safety, performance in terms of weight and durability, and minimum cost of production and ownership.
This job is for placement in the Liaison Engineering Design group, located in the G400/500/600 final line production building, responsible for multi-disciplinary design changes across all platforms in current production.

Qualified candidates will have:
Master structures and mech system design criteria including design loads and durability (fatigue and corrosion)
Master design and manufacturing processes involved for both metallic and composite parts with a focus on design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA) - Solid understanding of 3D Model Based Definition (3D MBD), and the application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) for details and assemblies
Proven ability to manage projects of significant scope including work planning and managing of tasks involving design, certification, release, and presentations to various stakeholders.
Practical hands-on aircraft experience and problem solving.
Ability to effectively work with and support a multi-disciplined team of engineers, mechanics and technical personnel
Flexibility to move quickly from one assignment to the next and the ability to handle multiple issues simultaneously.

Preferred candidates will also have:
Master in CATIA v5 workbenches: part design (machined parts), sheet metal, Composite Part Design (CPD), FT&A, Kinematics, Knowledge Based Engineering (KBE) tools including use of parameters, design tables, and Visual Basic macros - Proficiency in SmarTeam PLM database
Prior work experience with Gulfstream aircraft design
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work together in a team environment and across disciplines.

Responsibilities:
The candidate will be ultimately responsible for producing high quality designs, ready for manufacturing, on time, at the right cost by:
Maintain type design definition of the aircraft by producing the form, fit, and function documentation
Engage various engineering, manufacturing and product support teams to complete designs
Participate in design reviews
Prepare engineering reports and presentations

Participating in aircraft build support:
Interacting with suppliers and preparing technical coordination memos.
Documenting, tracking, and managing design projects of various magnitude using online knowledgebases and tracking tools.

Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related curriculum applicable to the respective job position required. 13 yrs specific technical discipline or 15 yrs broad eng experience in several technical disciplines with Bachelors. Experience credit considered for related adv degrees limited to 2 yrs for Masters and 4 yrs for PhD in fields applicable to this job.

Position Purpose:
Works on engineering projects containing critical problems, the solution of which requires major technological advances and extensive related development

  1. Responsible for an entire engineering project of major complexity within established scope .
  2. Makes technical decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and have an important impact on extensive engineering activities .
  3. Applies advanced technical principles, theories and concepts based on broad expertise or unique specialized knowledge .
  4. Leads the development of innovative principles and ideas .
  5. Acts independently to determine improved methods and/or procedures to optimize technical product, cost and schedule requirements .
  6. Works under consultative direction; uses independent judgment to accomplish objectives .
  7. Develops standards and guides for diverse engineering activities .
  8. Conceives and plans investigation of broad areas of importance for which engineering precedents are lacking in areas critical to the program .

Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:
  1. Advanced degree in engineering or related curriculum preferred.
  2. The level of technical skill and abilities appropriate for this grade will be established by each discipline.
