As a Facility Based Care Advocate, you will be responsible for utilization review of behavioral health and substance use services. Responsibilities include review of clinical documentation for higher levels of care. Reviews clinical documentation to make medical necessity decisions and ensure quality. Fast paced work environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Focus on initial and concurrent reviews for higher levels of care
  • Make patient assessments and determine appropriate levels of care
  • Care Advocates coordinate care with providers prior to discharge from inpatient, residential and partial hospitalization levels of care
  • Manage inpatient mental health/substance abuse cases throughout the entire episode of care
  • Administer benefits
  • Coordinate benefits and transitions between various levels of care
  • Consult with facility staff on available treatment options
  • Oversee the facility-based care experience

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or Marriage or Family Counseling; or Licensed Ph.D.
  • Active, unrestricted clinical mental health license to practice independently
  • 2+ years of post-master's experience in a related behavioral health environment
  • Willing to work weekday holidays on a rotating basis, depending on business needs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in facility base care
  • Dual diagnosis experience with mental health and substance abuse
  • Experience working in an environment that required coordination of benefits and utilization of multiple resources
  • Experience working with the insurance industry
  • Knowledge of administrating benefits

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
