Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center (VBPC) is a 100-bed freestanding psychiatric hospital located near the beautiful resort area of Virginia Beach, Virginia; a short 10-minute drive to the oceanfront. VBPC offers acute psychiatric and substance abuse services for adults 18 years and older. The hospital is accessible 24 hours a day for admissions and includes mental health assessments and an excellent referral network. Treatment programs and specialty services at VBPC include substance abuse, dual diagnosis and partial hospitalization.

Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center currently has openings for PRN Licensed or licensed eligible social worker, counselor, certified substance abuse counselor or marriage and family therapist to cover group therapy sessions and conduct assessments for partial hospitalization program staff. This role involes collaborating with the PHP Manager, Doctor, and Nurse and provide group facilitation coverage. Candidates should have experience working with mental health and substance abuse populations.

Qualifications

  • Licensed or licensed eligible.
  • Serves as an active member of the Clinical Services/Social Work department.
  • Maintains a therapeutic relationship with patients.
  • Must possess knowledge of basic social work principles and practices for all ages and therapeutic intervention

    Techniques.
  • Assists in maintaining a safe, clean therapeutic environment.
  • Two or more years' post graduate clinical experience required - preferred in a psychiatric work setting..
  • Able to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Working knowledge of social theories and practices.
  • Social perceptiveness and empathy.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional helping relationships.
  • Ability to relate and communicate with diverse population and groups.
  • Resilience along with ability to assess situations.
  • MS degree in social work, psychology or sociology
