Why does the job exist?

The Licensing Specialist (LS) is responsible for processing and maintenance of license applications and/or registration packages for various industries regulated by the Financial Institutions Division.

How does it get done?

The LS's primary job assignments are as follows: process and maintain new and renewal applications; efficiently manage and maintain the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System (NMLS) and other licensing databases; maintain a current and useful roster, mailing list, and filing system for assigned industries; maintain excellent written and oral communication via correspondence, telephone, email, and other forms of communication; and provide administrative support with the main phone line.

Who are the customers?

Customers include financial institutions, the Financial Institutions Division, and the citizens of New Mexico.

Ideal Candidate

Preferred candidates will:
-Possess an Associates Degree in business administration or accounting,
-Have at least two years of direct experience in budgeting, accounting, auditing, purchasing, cash or financial management, and/or licensing,
-Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, and
-Be skilled in organization and managing deadlines.

Minimum Qualification

High School diploma or Equivalency and one (1) year of experience in office administration, budgeting, purchasing, finance, accounting, auditing, cash management and/or contract management. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

Must be able to pass a background check and maintain a valid driver's license.

Working Conditions

Works is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending, lifting and reaching may be required. Ability to complete assignments with a high level of accuracy within strict time constraints. Frequent use of office machine and equipment. Greeting and directing the public in person or via the telephone. Must be able to life 25-30 lbs. Occasional travel may be required. Experience using Microsoft Office applications are also required.
