Position Summary:

Performs intake of both routine and emergent patient transport requests. Collects demographic information and gathers clinical data; makes triage assessments to determine the appropriate level of care and mode of transportation; and assigns clinical resources appropriately. Works collaboratively to coordinate relevant, safe, rapid, and efficient intra and inter-hospital transport of patients to and from The Johns Hopkins Hospital and Health System affiliates-intake of Emergency Response Requests and immediate notification of appropriate Emergency Response Team.

Shift: Part-Time (36 Hours), Rotating Shift (Day/Night), 12-hour Shift

Requirements/ Licensure/Certification:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and successful Emergency Medical Technician - Basic program completion. Additional experience in service-related healthcare occupation demonstrating proficiency in interacting with customers, handling high-level tasks, meeting deadlines, and providing excellent customer service. Some college preferred.
  • Maryland Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Basic certification is required at the time of hire. National Registry Emergency Medical Technician Basic or obtain within 90 days (preferred).
  • Current essential cardiac life support (CPR).
  • Unrestricted Valid Driver's License and maintain contracted ambulance vendor's emergency vehicle operator requirements.
  • Two years of experience working for an ambulance service (or an acceptable alternative) is required. Two or more years of experience as an ambulance/emergency service dispatcher is preferred.
