The National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (NHMFL) MagLab

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the design, implementation, and management of the LINUX system at the NHMFL. Includes installation, operation, maintenance, and security of hardware and software for all physical and virtual servers and workstations running Linux operating systems. at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory.
  • Responsible for the administration of services running on Linux servers, web servers, data acquisition systems, server performance monitoring, an IT asset inventory.
  • Troubleshoot and correct problems with personal computer hardware, software, and peripherals; evaluating computer hardware, software, and for use within the Laboratory; and consulting with Laboratory faculty and staff regarding purchases related to computers.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or other appropriate degree and two years of experience; or high school diploma/equivalent and six years of experience related to the job duties (Note: post-high school education can substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Linux and Windows server operating systems.
  • Ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
