Position Objective

This role supervises logistics activities to ensure safety, quality, productivity, administration with the intent of continuous improvement, and leading results to achieve department and plant goals. Position involves the overall management of day and night logistics staff, such as Material Handlers, Pickers, Binners, Fork Truck operators, Inventory Control / Cycle Counters, Receiving Clerks, Shipping Clerks, and / or Production Controllers.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Accountable for ensuring that all team members receive required instruction in safety procedures, proper use of equipment, performance standards, disciplinary processes, other workplace and Company policies, procedures and practices. Ensure compliance to OSHA / EPA regulations and Company Safety Guidelines. Must be knowledgeable of Hazardous Waste Handling. Must adhere to Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) requirements.
  • You will leverage your team's experience and skills to support supply chain and manufacturing service, inventory control, critical parts availability, material handling, expiration dated materials monitoring and control, and government property control.
  • Responsible for completing regular Cycle count and completion of physical inventory; able to maintain FIFO. Housekeeping and other 5S activities across multiple warehouse locations.
  • Communicates with various levels of management and customers to ensure that customer expectations are met and issues are resolved, including turn-around time. Proactively working with cross functional teams, internally and externally, to ensure that the company meet or exceeds the expectations of our customers. Investigates service failures, and develops, implements and monitors appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
  • Manage company freight audit and payment process. Leverage 3 rd party Freight Bill Audit & Payment to manage timely, accurate freight payment and provide logistics spend transparency. Adhere to all warehousing, handling and shipping legislation requirements.
  • Reviews, recommends and develops changes in operations, processes and system. Ensures proper implementation and maintenance of approved changes. Provide continual process improvements as well as implementation of new processes.
  • Strategically manage operations within Logistics department in compliance with company's policies and vision, ensuring quality standards are consistently met. Optimizing warehouse, receiving, and shipping for efficient handling / transacting stored materials.
  • Staff, train, evaluate, motivate and develop team members. Strong verbal, interpersonal communication and leadership skills. Ability to coordinate people and product to ensure orders are filled accurately.
  • Must understand receiving, inventory control, material flow, manufacturing production, and shipping processes. Manage reports, measurement of KPI's and statistical analysis.
  • Ensure a high degree of inventory accuracy in ERP system (Oracle). Computer proficiency skills required.
  • Support daily management activities, including developing and reporting on metrics. Problem resolution, assignment of action items, and defining target dates for completion of assignments / activities.
  • Monitor and drive improvements to cycle counting, location auditing, and put-away metrics. Drive annual physical inventory process.
  • Use RCCA activities to drive continuous improvement and provide solutions to problems that are effective and sustainable.


Education and Experience

Preferred:
  • Bachelors degree and 4 years of supervisory experience in warehouse / logistics operations or high volume distribution environment.

Required:
  • Associates degree and 4 years of experience in manufacturing or similar related experience with 2 years of supervisory experience.


Qualifications

Preferred:
  • Industry experience in Aerospace and Defense desirable.
  • Experience in transportation methods and strategies, including parcel, air, truckload, less than truckload, and ocean.
  • Understanding of international trade requirements and best practices. Knowledge of ITAR, EAR, and export control regulations.
  • Experience in steering and implementing strategic initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a matrix structure.
  • Knowledge of warehouse operations including security procedures, improve loss-control programs, refining process control.

Required:
  • Ability to calculate, analyze and apply business, financial and statistical analysis.
  • Flexible to work off-shifts, as required.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
    • Ability to obtain a security clearance.
  • Computer proficiency, proficient in the use of Microsoft Suite and Oracle.
  • Ability to generate data reports, interpret, and drive accountable actions down to team members.
  • Comfort in speaking to large groups and in 1-1 consultation with employees.
  • Comfort in working in a warehouse environment with large, moving vehicles.
