LPN Extern PRN

Description

Assists patients with activities of daily living, providing basic nursing care to non-acutely ill patients and assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the team and/or unit.

Essential Functions

Demonstrates competency in performing delegated functions and/or treatments.

Demonstrates ability to identify changes occurring in the patient's condition and reports these to the appropriate team members.

Demonstrates professional attitude with accountability for role performance.

Performs nursing tech duties under direct supervision of RN with validation of competencies from school checkoff list with the exception of med administration and IV therapy.

Non-Essential Functions

Perform other duties as assigned

Attends and participates in staff meetings, in-service, projects and committees as assigned

Adheres to and supports policies and procedures of the STRHS

Works scheduled shifts including overtime, when necessary

Accepts all call schedule as directed

Maintains a neat and professional appearance in compliance to the existing dress code

Organizational Expectations

Actively participates in Foundation Safety Behavior Tools and Tactics such as Briefs, Debriefs, Huddles, Learning Board Activities, Executive Patient Safety Rounds and reporting of unanticipated and unintended patient events regardless of whether there is harm.

Qualifications

Job Requirements

Minimum Education

High School graduate or equivalent and last year of LPN program.

Certified Nurses' Assistant Certification preferred.

Required Skills

Documents all necessary and required information per policy and procedure during the performance of usual duties and responsibilities. Must be able to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, and co-workers.

Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) current or must obtain within 90 days of hire.

Minimum Work Experience

Completion of a unit specific orientation program.
