Pay Range: $19.80 - $32.15 / hour

- Full-Time PM: 3 12-hour shifts per week

Unit Details :
The Hospitalist 4 Unit is a 31-bed acute and intermediate care unit that treats a variety of medical and surgical patients and has a strong focus on infectious disease (ID) patients. This highly trained interdisciplinary team includes ID physician specialists, and many of the patients have complications from COVID-19. A unique patient type they care for includes those receiving Radioiodine I-131 treatment, a form of radiation therapy that can be used to treat thyroid conditions. UAB Hospital Medicine, or Hospitalist, was the first hospital medicine program in the state of Alabama and one of the first in the Southeast. They provide care for the largest population of patients discharged from UAB Medicine.

Job Description :
Under general supervision, to provide nursing care to patients based on the nursing process, UAB Hospital Standards of Nursing Care, and UAB Hospital policies and procedures while ensuring quality of care. To orient patients and family members to surrounding environment, acting as a patient advocate. To collect patient assessment data and notify RN of potential problems. To evaluate patient s response to care and report findings to RN, document delivery of patient care, effectively respond to emergency situations, demonstrate positive interpersonal skills, meet patient s educational needs, and serve as a role model to other members of the patient care team.

Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited Practical Nursing Program required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently licensed or licensed by endorsement as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required. Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment. Depending on the unit/department, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) may be required .
