Duties

As a Machinist, WG-3414-11, you will perform machining operations and welding to accomplish the manufacture and repair of aircraft components, tools, equipment, parts, and special tools.

• This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
• Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

• Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
• Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

• Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
• For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.

• This is an Army National Guard dual status technician position which requires military membership.
• This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
• Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
• Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
• May be required to travel by car, in military and/or commercial aircraft, and by other means of transportation as appropriate, to perform temporary duty assignments.
• The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license may be required for the position.

Qualifications

Military Grades: Enlisted Only

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training that has provided the candidate with a basic knowledge of machining processes. Must have the ability to use drill presses, shapers, planers, and other types of associated machine tools

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 18 months experience or training performing the full range of machining operations on most types of conventional or CNC machine tools and their various attachments. Experience or training in planning and lay out work from blueprints, worksheets and other drawings that may have missing or incorrect information. Skill in applying shop mathematics in establishing needed dimensions, such as those required for chasing threads or machining angular surfaces; locating and marking surfaces and angles to be machined. Skill in programming machining operations, setting up and operating CNC machine tools. Knowledge of and ability to apply advanced shop mathematics such as geometric and trigonometric formulas to make computation for laying out work, machining pieces at unusual or compound angles, determining gear ratios pitch, angles and other similar exact or precision dimension.

**Recruitment, Retention, and Relocation Incentive may be authorized up to 25% of base pay for a max of 4 years pending TAG approval.

**Relocation costs are authorized subject to provisions of the Joint Travel Regulation and an agency determination that a Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move is in the Government's best interest.

Military Requirements:

-For Dual-Status Technician positions service affiliation under Title 32 USC 709 is required.

Upon selection, individuals must be assigned to a compatible military AFSC/MOS in accordance with statutes and National Guard Bureau regulations and must obtain/maintain all requirements of the AFSC/MOS. Specific requirements are found in the references listed below, NGB Compatibility tables, and your local Military Personnel section.
