Job Title: Machinist
Location: Marlborough, MA
Onsite role - 6:00 am - 2:30 pm EST
Contract Duration: 6 months
Job Description:
Include assignment planning, layout, set up and operating and making tool adjustments for a variety of conventional or automatic machines. Works from blueprints, process sheets and sketches to perform production tasks which may include the cutting and shaping of metal to precision dimensions. Checks and inspects machining operations against specified tolerances. May identify and repair minor machine malfunctions.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Reviews job packages by reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches or drawings to identify design impracticalities and begin to formulate production process.
  • Determines sequence of operation number and type of cuts required, and method of set-up.
  • Prepares parts for machining, programs computer and milling machines in Mastercam, and operates variety of manual and automatic machines.
  • Monitors parts through production by visual observation and referencing blueprints to ensure products meet specifications.
  • Performs preventative maintenance tasks on machines.
  • Repairs malfunctioning shop equipment and machines.
  • Recognizes problems relative to unusual materials, machine settings, tools, product specifications, and impractical design to aid engineers in producing the part of highest quality.
  • Communicates design-related concerns and issues to engineers and suggest alternate production methods, materials, or cuts that may be more feasible, but still fulfill the functionality requirements.
  • Programs the Electrical Discharge Machine (EDM), Anilam computer and CNC milling machines by entering part dimensions, tolerance, and required cuts into system to produce required design.
  • Leads people effectively.
  • Monitors parts throughout the production process by visually observing cuts and by measuring them using specified measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, scales, rulers, protractors, calipers, comparator, toolmakers microscope, calculators) and by referencing blueprints to ensure that they meet all blueprint specifications.
  • Skilled motivator capable of ensuring the co-ordination of work to achieve objectives.
  • Supports company objectives.
  • May counsel employees in initial stages of performance problems.
Quality System Requirements:
In all actions, demonstrates a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures.
Required Experience:
10 - 14 Years with Bachelors
8 - 12 Years with MBA
