Job Goal

To support and assist magnet schools in maintaining and promoting high quality instruction and opportunities for students that increases student performance and achievement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participates in the creation and presentation of curriculum, assessment, and other content-specific instructional materials related to magnet programming.
  • Supports school based Instructional Leadership Teams through professional development, and other related content initiatives.
  • Partners with various departments in the creation, delivery, implementation, and evaluation of content-specific professional development for school-based personnel through job-embedded, and ongoing professional development.
  • Collaborates with the magnet schools to provide instructional support and professional development for teachers and administrators in Magnet programs.
  • Assists in reviewing various data for the intention of monitoring student achievement through the collection and analysis of data.
  • Participates in various meetings that allow for understanding of current issues and trends in Magnet Programs.
  • Assists with the operations of Magnet Programs in such areas as informational reports, program evaluation, and funding implementation.
  • Assists in the yearly evaluation of interest-based programming, instructional practices, resources, and relevancy of programming to ensure that programs are up-to-date and aligned with the district's overall goals and strategic plan.
  • Works collaboratively with various district and school instructional specialists to help support student achievement in magnet programs by assisting with personalized learning plans, programs of study, and integration of programming that supports district-wide instructional initiatives.
  • Assists with recruiting and promotion efforts of magnet programs by participating in various activities both during the school day and outside of the school day that help build and promote magnet programs.
  • Assists in public relations opportunities by increasing Huntsville City Schools magnet awareness and understanding with students, families and throughout the local community.
  • Works with school teams in planning, budgeting, and determining resources needed to maintain effective magnet programming.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university in a related field with a minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience is required. A Master's Degree in a related field is preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid state teaching certificate. Leadership experience as well as experience working with special programs or in a magnet specific program preferred.

Physical Requirements

Requires light work exerting up to ten (10) pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently. Job involves sitting most of the time.

Terms of Employment

Ten month year. Salary as recommended by the Superintendent and approved by the Board.
