Kimberton Whole Foods is looking for a career-minded, full-time Maintenance & Facilities Team Member to join the KWF Team.

Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week. 8-hour shifts, 5 days per week.

Availability: Flexible schedule that may include nights and some weekends. Must be available outside of standard working hours as a part of the emergency response team.

Age Requirement: Must be 18 years or older.

Hourly Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 depending on experience

The Facilities and Maintenance Team Member is responsible for supporting the Facilities and Maintenance Coordinator with the maintenance and general upkeep of all KWF equipment and facilities. This position performs many maintenance duties directly while also coordinating with outside service providers as necessary. The Facilities and Maintenance Team Member is part of the KWF Emergency Response Team and must be available outside of their standard work schedule for emergency situations.

Daily Operations:

The Facilities and Maintenance Team Member's primary responsibility is to execute the maintenance and upkeep of the following: Major Systems, Basic Facility Maintenance, and Critical Facility Infrastructure.

Major Systems:
  • Maintain clean, safe, and fully operation facilities that are code compliant and provide a comfortable environment for KWF Team Members, customers, and vendors.
  • Maintain fully operational HVAC equipment for all facilities.
  • Maintain fully operational refrigeration systems for all facilities.
  • Maintain fully operation plumbing systems for all facilities.
  • Maintain fully operational food service equipment for all applicable locations.
  • Maintain fully operation generators and transfer switches for applicable facilities.
  • Other systems maintenance as assigned by supervisor.
Basic Facility Maintenance:

Basic facility maintenance is typically scheduled to be done within the standard work week schedule. Emergency situations do apply but are less frequent than those in the critical infrastructure category.
  • Maintain all miscellaneous facility equipment (i.e., check-out lanes, cleaning equipment, etc.)
  • Maintain facility lighting, including replacement, repair, and system management.
  • Maintain facility docks, including overhead doors, dock levelers and dock plates.
  • Maintain facility entry and exit points, including automatic doors, key and lock, door closers, etc.
  • Standard physical facility maintenance, including carpentry, masonry/tile repair, drop ceiling repair, drywall repair, hardware repair, painting, etc.
  • Maintain consistent trash and recycling pick-ups via contracted haulers.
  • Coordinate with property management for building maintenance (i.e. roof repairs, sidewalk/parking lot repairs, etc.).
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Critical Infrastructure:
  • Critical infrastructure maintenance is often time sensitive and requires excellent communication skills and strong coordination capabilities.
  • The ability to maintain positive relationships with outside contractors is a must.
  • This category also demands absolute urgency regardless of previously planned work and/or the time of day.
Emergency Response:
  • The KWF Facilities and Maintenance Team Member is part of the KWF Emergency Response Team and must be responsive outside of regularly scheduled hours. Emergency responsibilities include being scheduled "on-call" for after-hours refrigeration emergency alarms and calls.

  • Drive a non-CDL straight body box truck (requires passing a DOT medical card exam).

  • Demonstrate adherence to high standards of cleanliness.
  • Ability to both work with little direction and accurately follow directions.
Mathematical Skills
  • Add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
Physical Capabilities:
  • Ability to be mobile throughout entire shifts.
  • Work a schedule that includes early mornings and overnights.
  • Full Sense Range (vision, hearing and sense of smell) - The ability to read product labels, distinguish color and smell for quality control as well as the ability to communicate with vendors, contractors, customers, and co-workers.
  • Lifting, Gripping and Carrying Objects - Up to 50-75 pounds frequently, including boxes, cans, tools and other products.
  • Bending, Stooping, Squatting, Crouching and Kneeling - Stoop and maneuver to pick up items at varying levels.
  • Walking - Short distances to bring items from miscellaneous areas.
  • Standing- Prolonged standing.
  • Work Environment - Movement based with the majority of time being in motion (walking and standing) rather than sedentary (sitting).
  • Climate - Ability to work in cold environments (cooler, freezer, outdoors) and handle cold products for extended periods of time on a regular basis.
