What You Will Do
This position will be filled at either the Maintenance Support Specialist 1/2 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.

Maintenance Support Specialist 1 ($57,800 - $89,500)

The Maintenance Support Specialist (MSS) position supports Maintenance Site Services TA55 (MSS-TA55) Plutonium Facility Management at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), which implements the LANL project controls system, processes, procedures, and tools in these programs. This position supports programs within the Weapons Production Directorate, including, but not limited to the scope associated with the nation's only fully capable plutonium facility through the integration of the stockpile stewardship program; weapon engineering and testing; enabling a sustainable deterrence through the production of weapons components; and providing options for the future stockpile, ensuring the safety, security, and effectiveness of the U.S. nuclear deterrent.

Duties for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide scheduling support.
  • Perform planning and scheduling activities, including schedule development, maintenance, and monitoring.
  • Cost engineering includes cost estimating, analysis, and control activities.
  • Run Earned Value Management estimates.
  • Support change control by maintaining metrics and indicators and reporting variance analysis.
  • Provide excellent customer service support.
Maintenance Support Specialist 2 ($69,500 - $110,300)

In addition to what was outlined at the lower level, at this level this position will:

  • Facilitate work in an operations and maintenance environment.
  • Perform scheduling using software such as Primavera P6.
  • Prepare presentations and reports for customers both internal and external.



What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

Business Processes & Systems: Ability to adhere to policies and procedures that support facility maintenance objectives. Demonstrated experience working independently, organizing, prioritizing, and following through to completing multiple tasks under strict deadlines and changing priorities.

Communication: Experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions to problems affecting facility maintenance and performance assurance. Excellent communication skills, including interpersonal, verbal, and written, demonstrating the ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel. Skill in the preparation and presentation of reports.

Maintenance Operations: Skill to conceptualize and communicate major elements of processes supporting the maintenance program to both technical and non-technical personnel.

Additional Job Requirements for Minimum Job Maintenance Support Specialist 2:

In addition to the requirements outlined above, qualification at the higher level requires:

Communication:
Successful experience working on multiple projects with frequent interruptions, varying priorities, and deadlines while maintaining excellent quality in daily work. Effective decision-making and creative problem-solving acumen. Demonstrated ability to work independently.

Maintenance Operations: Experience with scheduling maintenance activities. Experience in performing, monitoring, and reviewing planning and scheduling functions, including schedule development, control, and analysis.

Technology: Knowledge of scheduling software tools, such as Primavera P6 or similar.

Education/Experience at Maintenance Support Specialist 1 level:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Education/Experience at Maintenance Support Specialist 2 level: The position requires a Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

DOE Order 426.2 Minimum Requirements:
Requires 1 year of job-related experience.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working with the Operations Integration Center and the Integrated scheduling team.
  • Experience scheduling core craft.
  • Knowledge and experience with the TA55 T-Week process.
  • Active Q clearance.

Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Directive 206.2- Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 . Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). *Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

426.2: This position is subject to DOE Order 426.2, Personnel Selection, Training, and Qualification Requirements for DOE Nuclear Facilities, which establishes entry-level requirements to ensure candidates selected for specific positions can successfully perform the requirements of the job.
