Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Maintenance and Operations Supervisor II will serve as a key member of the Big Fresno Fair's management team to ensure day to day operations are incompliance with State laws, rules and regulations and polices of the 21st DAA. The position will develop long-range capital outland and facility development plans, coordinate and oversee all special projects to include, modifications, upgrades, capital improvements and construction or demolition of buildings; develop manage and prepare cost estimates, monitor budget data expenditure to ensure budgetary compliance. Responsible for managing, organizing, and supervising personnel in the overall maintenance and operations of a Class VI Fair with an annual budget of approximately ten million dollars.

• Organize and supervise major phases of the Association's operations and support functions as it pertains to maintenance of buildings/grounds interim events, satellite wagering, live horse racing, security, and the Paul Paul Theater/grounds entertainment.

• Oversee the maintenance and installation of electrical work, plumbing, setting up forms and pouring cement, building fences, brick laying, tree planting, and upkeep on gardening-watering, fertilizing, pruning, etc.

• Coordinate the maintenance department's operational work assignments in the preparation and execution of daily operations as it pertains to contract management involving bid specifications and preparation of cost estimates on construction projects.

• Supervise, plan, organize, and direct the work of the maintenance crew in the repair of all existing buildings and grounds and any new construction.

• Inspect buildings and grounds for needed repairs, plan assignments for maintenance crew, and review the work.

• Work with CEO in the overall operations of the Big Fresno Fair in planning and organizing major phases of the 21st DAA.

• Participate in program policy development, planning, decision making and evaluation; recommend new program direction; and oversee the progress of projects ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal requirements and complying with all laws, rules and regulations directed by Fairs & Expositions, Department of Food & Agriculture and California Fair Services Authority.

• Evaluate and provide counsel to management on the layout and planning of new construction and special projects.

• Administer the implementation and records of fuel usage, Injury & Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), equipment certifications, hazard material & equipment maintenance logs.

• Supervise, train, and direct staff in the maintenance and operations of grounds and facilities for all interim events.

Working Conditions

Essential job functions require considerable physical strength, agility, and mobility to work throughout the facility. Work activities involve standing for long periods of time; frequent walking including walking on uneven ground; sitting; kneeling; pushing and pulling; reaching above or at shoulder height; bending of neck in an upward and downward flexion and side-to-side turning of neck; ascending and descending ladders; entering and exiting vehicles and electric cart; moving average-weight tools and equipment up to 75 pounds; power and simple grasping; repetitive hand movement and fine coordination to operate various equipment, tools, standard office equipment, and radio; verbally communicate and hear to exchange information; see to perform assigned tasks; read printed materials with or without vision aids; understand and follow oral and written instructions; and read, write, and speak English at a level required for successful job performance. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors under adverse weather conditions. Will be provided with an office area to conduct business and multiple areas for storage of tools and equipment. Will be provided a radio and cell phone to communicate with management, staff, and vendors. May be required to work holidays, weekends, and odd or irregular hours. Work environment involves exposure to sounds associated with power tools, smells associated with sewer and water, unhealthy vapors and fumes, malodors, gases, dust, dirt, mechanical, and equipment hazards or physical risk that require following basic safety precautions.

Department Information
The Fresno Fairgrounds is a Class VI Fair and consists of approximately 165 acres with a four-story grandstand for live and satellite horse racing, a paddock area, approximately thirteen buildings, four parking lots, a maintenance yard, a livestock area, horse barns, an outdoor pavilion area, an outdoor theater, an upgraded park area, the Big Fresno Fair Museum and the Fresno County Historical Museum, etc.
