Non-Competitive Minimum Qualifications:

Two years of full-time experience in maintenance or mechanical work under the supervision of a skilled tradesperson; OR completion of an appropriate two year technical school course at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services, such as the New York State Civil Service Employees Association-Partnership (NYS CSEA-P) Applied Skilled Trades Certificate Program*; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of appropriate technical courses at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services.

*Successful completion of the NYS CSEA-P Applied Skilled Trades Certificate Program includes a total of 288 hours of trade-specific classroom instruction, 45 hours of technical math course work, 45 hours of technical communications course work, and 15 hours of blueprint/schematic reading course work. It does not include 4,000 hours of on-the-job training, as required for the NYS CSEA-P Applied Skilled Trades Traineeship.

When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.

Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders.

Duties Description Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor 1 and Property Staff the incumbent will:

Applicants must be able to perform the tasks of the position and able to understand and carry out written or oral instructions. When required to operate motor vehicles, incumbents must possess valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle being operated.

Duties:
• Perform routine maintenance and repair using the appropriate tools and equipment.
• Move furniture and equipment at various sites.
• Travel to various sites throughout New York State for more move and maintenance requests.
• Perform other maintenance tasks as requested.
Operating Needs:
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to work at heights using ladders and platforms.
• Ability to operate small equipment including manual/electrical pallet jack.

Additional Comments Position specific job duties may include occasional altered work schedule or job assignments which require availability and willingness to work occasional evenings and/or out-stationed assignments.

As this position requires travel, the appointee must have a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State and have a motor vehicle or otherwise demonstrate their capacity to meet the transportation needs of the position.
