Job Description:

Assigns work orders and tasks to Carpenters and Maintenance Generalists at HSC and Main Campus. Manages completion of essential building maintenance, projects, repairs, and alterations. Supervising the Carpentry shop's workflow, coordinating with other trades, and assisting with estimates and reports. Ensures efficient work order coordination with staff, customers, and Work Management. Trains others in Carpentry techniques and reviews work for compliance with codes; assists maintenance staff performing their duties; responds to emergencies; manage maintenance personnel or subcontractors. In the absence of the supervisor, act as the team leader by directing and/or coordinating the work of others. Order parts, supplies, or equipment from warehouse/suppliers/catalogs.

Responds to and works on maintenance/service work orders and installs, repairs, and preventatively maintains metal & wood doors, door frames, mortise locks, hinges, exit devices, door closers, handicap door operators, door hardware, ceiling tile, ceiling grid, and various flooring. Installs, repairs, and preventatively maintains drywall for building maintenance and installs or maintains ceramic tile, concrete, windows and various painting tasks. Visit project work sites prior to assignment of jobs to make material lists and to determine approximate man hours required to develop cost estimation for installation/replacement/repairs.

Administrative duties, communicates with supervisors and UF Leadership via email and phone. Completes project inspections and submits receiving documents. Assigns and monitors AIM work orders, ensuring proper notes and asset information are included. Acquires vendor quotes and submits requisitions for various maintenance-related purchase orders (POs). Assists in conducting shop safety meetings and ensuring overall safety compliance.

Operates UF vehicles and Man-lifts

A criminal background and post-offer health assessment will be conducted.

Employee must obtain a State of Florida Class E Operator License within 60 days of date of employment.

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE:

6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday - Wednesday - 40 hours per week.

Emergency work (as needed.)

On-Call/Standby (as required).

Position considered as Essential Personnel as defined by UF Policy.

Expected Salary:

Expected starting salary $25.00 - $29.00 Hourly based on experience.

Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent and four years of relevant experience. Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications:

KNOWLEDGE
- Knowledge of the principles and techniques of the skilled building trades or mechanical repair work
- Knowledge of safety procedures required in maintenance and repair work

SKILLS
- Skill in using tools and equipment in maintenance and repair work

ABILITIES
- Ability to perform a variety of skilled trade functions
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions Must have experience in multiple trades
