SUMMARY:
Under direct supervision, repairs and maintains vehicles, mechanical equipment, and machinery used for construction and maintenance of energy service and facilities. Updates and completes monthly reports and maintains fleet department accounts payable. Leads the coordination of vehicle, equipment, and machinery design and specifications.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED with five to seven years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must possess a current, legally valid drivers license and meet the companys driving record requirements.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measures, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Ability to use a personal computer and word processing, customer information systems, and spreadsheet software
ANALYSIS AND PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to identify and define problems and process breakdowns. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to stand, walk, and stoop up to 2/3 of the time and sit up to 1/3 of the time. Good vision and ability to adjust focus is required. Manual dexterity is required. Ability to carry, reach, and handle items. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Encounters shop hazards such as power machinery, paint and solvent fumes, and toxic cleaning chemicals.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Workshop environment.

JOB DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY:
Under direct supervision, repairs and maintains vehicles, mechanical equipment, and machinery used for construction and maintenance of energy service and facilities. Updates and completes monthly reports and maintains fleet department accounts payable. Leads the coordination of vehicle, equipment, and machinery design and specifications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Repairs or replaces defective parts on vehicles, machinery, and mechanical and hydraulic equipment
- Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoist, hand tools, and power tools
- Operates machinery and equipment for set up and road test
- Performs repair and maintenance work on mechanical hand hydraulic machinery and equipment as required
- Observes mechanical and hydraulic machinery and equipment in operations and diagnosis trouble
- Performs welding, maintenance, and fabracation work on transformers, switch gears, gates, pole racks, trucks, mounted equipment, etc.
COMPETENCIES:
- Knowledge pertaining to diesel engines, gasoline engines, heavy duty vehicles and equipment
- Proficient in hydraulic systems and aerial devices
- Basic understanding of modern technology involved when trouble-shooting vehicles and be apprised of changes in technology
- Knowledge of and experience with welding
- Ability to make sound judgments and crucial decisions in short amounts of time
- Ability to understand and assimilate complex technical information
- Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, diagnose, and solve mechanical problems
- Technical knowledge needed to safely operate various powered hand tools
QUALIFICATIONS
