Maintenance Technician - Full Time

Forest View Hospital, located just seven miles southeast of downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan, is a private 108 bed psychiatric facility that serves children, adolescents and adults. We are licensed by the State of Michigan, fully accredited by The Joint Commission and we bring more than 45 years of experience to the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of behavioral health problems. As a part of our continued success and growth, we are seeking qualified applicants for a Maintenance Technician.
The Maintenance Technician helps the Maintenance Manager in the on-going maintenance and repair needs of the hospital and the grounds in a timely and efficient manner.

The Maintenance Technician helps the Maintenance Manager in the on-going maintenance and repair needs of the hospital and the grounds in a timely and efficient manner.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
- Assists Maintenance Manager in maintaining all hospital equipment and patient facilities.
- Completes assigned work orders in a timely manner, prioritizing repairs that could negatively impact patient safety that are consistent with psych-safe standards and best practices.
- Assists in special projects as needed and required to assure safety and minimizes disruptions to patient treatment (i.e., assisting with minor IT repairs and troubleshooting and help desk submissions).
- Maintains and organizes storage areas.
- Maintains lighting and plumbing throughout the hospital.
- Demonstrates a basic understanding of commercial HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Demonstrated ability in the proper use of hand tools.
- Performs routine safety checks and responds to maintenance emergency situations.
- Follows proper department safety procedures and demonstrates proper lifting techniques.
- Demonstrates reliable and dependability.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Minimum Skills, Experience, Licensure, & Educational Requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalent is required
- Certificate in HVAC, building maintenance technology or relevant field is preferred
- A minimum of 2 years of previous experience in a similar role - previous hospital or multifamily housing experience preferred
- Demonstrated plumbing and electrical knowledge
- Demonstrated ability with hand and power tools
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to prioritize multiple service requests and demonstrate good judgement
- A valid driver's license, good driving record, and physical ability to safely operate motor vehicles is required
- A bility to respond to after hour emergencies (on-call)
