Maintenance Technician

$26.63-39.42 (Depending on Maintenance Tech Level I-III)

Continuous Work Schedule (Work Monday and Tuesday, Off Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, Work Saturday and Sunday for a total of 48 hours then Off Monday and Tuesday, Work Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, Off Saturday and Sunday for a total of 36 Hours).

Must be flexible to work: days/nights up to 12 hr shifts

SUMMARY: Our WestRock- Food Service Packaging, Atlanta, GA, plant is seeking a qualified Maintenance Technician. This position conducts, maintains, tests and repairs electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components. Applies knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation. Provides skilled mechanical and electrical/electronic support to all areas of Manufacturing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   1. Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical/electronic equipment including but not limited to programmable controls, numeral controls, power supplies, drives, gauges, and test equipment.
  2. Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical theories and principles, writing specifications, local and national electrical codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of electronic equipment.
  3. Installs, starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown and in line with OSHA requirements.
  4. Advises operators of operation procedures and requirements for working safely with electrical/electronic and mechanical equipment and components.
  5. Informs appropriate management of potential electrical/mechanical problems and inherent dangers involved.
  6. Maintain housekeeping excellence in accordance with Golden Broom Program.
  7. Performs preventative maintenance functions as directed.
  8. Assists maintenance personnel with technical troubleshooting.
  9. Assists and trains other maintenance and/or other technical level employees.
  10. Always present a professional tone and image to customers and vendors.
  11. Participate and ensure department is compliant with AIB audit regulations.
  12. Responsible for the timely and accurate repair of all required department documentation.


EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:
  • 3-5 years of proven experience in the electrical/electronics, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic fields are required and the ability to demonstrate high proficiency in these areas.
  • Certificate in applied electrical maintenance and/or associate degree in Electronics.
  • Any combination of related work experience.
  • Prior work experience in a corrugated manufacturing facility.


TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:
  • 3-5 years Corrugator experience a plus
  • Experience and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • A thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic components and equipment including the use of special instruments for diagnostic purposes.
  • Must be able to work well with all levels of personnel whether individually or in a team environment, and especially must be able to interface and communicate with line operators in order to assist with repairs and troubleshooting.
  • Willing to work any shift and overtime as required.
  • Computer experience/operation and PLC programming are necessary.
  • High degree of precision working with minimum tolerances required.
  • Professional, upbeat, energetic, takes initiative, dependable, takes pride in work.
  • Ability to effectively manage time.
