Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Maintenance Technician to perform routine and emergency maintenance on building systems and equipment, ensuring continuous operation of facilities. The Maintenance Technician will also be responsible for new installations of equipment and general building construction. This position requires knowledge of both mechanical and electrical systems, safety procedures, and the ability to work hands-on with various tools and equipment to maintain plant functionality and safety.
Primary Responsibilities:
Perform routine preventative maintenance (P.M.) on all plant equipment to ensure smooth operation, including lubrication and monitoring hydraulic, pneumatic, and other mechanical systems.
Conduct emergency repairs on equipment and building infrastructure to prevent or minimize downtime.
Install new equipment and participate in building construction or modifications.
Operate and maintain critical plant systems, including boilers, air systems, steam systems, fire systems, and waste water treatment systems.
Set up and operate manufacturing equipment, ensuring tolerances are met and components like rolls are properly aligned and parallel.
Mechanical Duties:
Use drawings and schematics to repair, rebuild, and troubleshoot various plant equipment and systems.
Perform maintenance on gear trains, bearings, seals, sprockets, disconnects, valves, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, pumps, couplings, speed reducers, and worm gears.
Electrical Duties:
Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems up to 480 volts 3-phase.
Conduct new electrical installations involving conduit layout, sizing, and bending.
Read and use electrical schematics to diagnose and resolve problems.
Select proper fuses and overload relay heaters using appropriate charts.
Welding Duties:
Safely perform welding, brazing, and cutting operations.
Prepare and lay out welding projects, demonstrating skill in both vertical and horizontal welding.
Equipment Operated:
Computer input terminal for data entry.
Various power tools, including drill press, grinder, cut-off saw, and hydraulic press.
Electrical testing equipment, such as ohm meters, strobe lights, and amp clamps.
Precision measurement tools, including micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators.
Forklift and clamp trucks.
Plant systems including boilers, air systems, steam systems, fire systems, and wastewater treatment systems.
Safety Procedures:
Follow all company safety guidelines and procedures, including lockout/tagout, fall hazards, PPE usage, electrical safety, and forklift operation.
Participate in training for various safety protocols including hearing protection, machine start-up notification, conveyor safety, lifting/pushing techniques, and emergency response.
Communication:
Effectively communicate using hand signals and verbal instructions to coordinate maintenance and repair tasks with team members.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; ability to read, write, and perform basic math.
Certified Forklift/Clamp Truck operator.
Proven experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance.
Certified welder with hands-on experience in both horizontal and vertical welding.
Strong knowledge of plant systems and equipment, including boilers, air systems, steam systems, and more.
Preferred Skills:
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge of safety protocols and adherence to strict safety guidelines.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Work Environment:
This role involves working in a plant environment with exposure to various mechanical and electrical systems. Must be able to work safely in environments involving loud machinery, hazardous materials, and elevated work areas.
