Job Description

SCOPE OF POSITION
The Manager, ACPE Educator will develop, manage, and evaluate all aspects of the Spiritual Health Services and CPE program at their assigned facility. The Manager will assist the Corporate Director in developing, coordinating, and evaluating other educational programs within Spiritual Health Services. As assigned by the Corporate Director, the Manager will represent the Center for Spiritual Health on hospital committees and activities; participate in community-related affairs; stay involved in clinical work by providing visitation support, participate in ethics consults, and on-call rotations. The Manager will lead the success of spiritual health services with direct supervision of the senior chaplains and students in the assigned facility. The Manager will provide direct spiritual care to patients, families, and team members as appropriate. In addition, the Manager will work cooperatively to achieve the program objectives of Clinical Pastoral Education as defined in the ACPE/Ballad Health accreditation materials. This individual will assist in developing a model of CPE that utilizes the rich resources of Ballad Health Hospitals and clinics, with the theme of Spiritual Care in Southern Appalachia.
The Manager will teach, mentor, and coach Clinical Pastoral Education students to develop spiritual care skills and professional attributes. This individual will assist students in the development of learning goals and objectives. The Manager will oversee the clinical work of students in collaboration with the Senior Chaplain(s) to ensure optimal clinical coverage. The Manager will also evaluate each student on a unit basis for clarification of program learnings and toward credit as part of the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education program. Additionally, the Manager will assist with locating and contracting with ACPE Certified Educators for occasional supervision of programs at sites if appropriate. The Manager will collect and maintain data and other information necessary for program administration and accreditation. The Manager will participate in advertising, screening, interviewing, and selection of potential students for CPE programs. Also, the Manager will participate in committees related to CPE education; also participate in community of practice and national ACPE as well as APC programs.
The Manager will support the hospital ministry of parish clergy with referrals, information, education, counseling, and consultation. This individual will participate, where feasible, in community clergy associations, as well as to serve as a resource to clergy, churches, and community groups. The Manager will participate with the Corporate Director of Spiritual Health and the Professional Advisory Group in the ongoing review and updating of the CPE handbook and Ballad Health policies and procedures to assure compliance with the ACPE Standards. The Manager will gather information and facilitate communication between Ballad Health sites regarding CPE applications, enabling distribution of applications where they are needed. The Manager will assist the Corporate Director in developing models and facilitate discussion and implementation of ways CPE can function throughout the corporation. This individual will work with PAG to provide for staff development and continuing education. Additionally, the Manager will prepare the Annual Accreditation Report identifying any changes in administrative support, personnel, educational resources, policies and procedures, contractual relationship, program offerings, and changes that have resulted from program evaluation processes such as the exit interviews and the Student Program Evaluations. The Manager will communicate with the National Accreditation Commission Chair regarding any significant changes that occur in the interim between annual reports. The Manager will participate in mandatory faith group retreats and meetings. The Manager is responsible for additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Master of Divinity from an accredited seminary or equivalent. A Doctorate in the Pastoral Care field is highly recommended. (Ph.D., Th.D. or D.Min.) Minimum five years of experience in hospital chaplaincy is required.
Valid and active ACPE Educator certification required
