Universal Orlando Resort believes in-person collaboration is key to our success. Many of our Team Members work in a hybrid capacity, contributing from the workplace a minimum of three days per week. JOB SUMMARY:

Manages all functions of Costume Operations including implementation of new projects, management of Costuming team members to meet the daily operational expectations. Responsible for maintaining costume integrity and quality for UO. Provides supervision and direction to Stage Managers, Supervisors and Coordinators and ensures the successful staffing and execution of venue and department operations.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Monitor daily labor usage to ensure budgeted hours are effectively used to fully support the business. Manage staffing levels ensuring hourly, non-exempt, and exempt level staffing adequately supports daily operational and seasonal/project needs. Ensure all policies and procedures are applied accurately, consistently, and in a timely manner including; team member discipline and merit evaluations. Identify developmental areas for team members and establish training & development programs to address and improve performance. Maintain positive team member relations and open communication with teams.
  • Oversee all operational inventories within assigned area(s) ensuring quality control, inventory tracking, usage, and replenishment remains accurate, efficient, and cost effective.
  • Responsible in planning, communicating and coordinating the work load of alterations, scheduling fittings & rehearsals - including troubleshooting and resolve issues within specified costumes.
  • Monitor change process of costumes in Issue Area and in Shows. Maintain flow of information between fabrication team and operations.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree in Theatre, or Business.

EXPERIENCE:
  • 5+ years professional experience managing a Theatrical based costume shop or area is required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in show development preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
  • Experience in managing high volume costume operation
  • Prior knowledge of running an operational department.
  • Experience in budget development and expense management
  • Familiarity and exposure to animated character costume preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience
  • Strong collaboration skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
