IAG is a worldwide function with 300+ team members and offices across nine countries. Our assurance and risk professionals have diverse backgrounds including internal controls, consumer compliance, privacy, financial crimes compliance, technology, operational risk, financial accounting, data analytics, banking operations, fraud and investigations, among others. The Data Driven Continuous Auditing (DDCA) Center of Excellence (COE) Team:

  • Driving key results for Audit NextGen to provide broader and deeper assurance, provide timely risk insights, and support colleague growth
  • Leading DDCA strategic initiatives for IAG to enhance the impact and quality of our analytic portfolio
  • Establishing best practices and providing training and support to the audit teams, and
  • Continuously improving our DDCA methodology.


Key Responsibilities:

Participate as a key member of the DDCA COE team by identifying analytic opportunities across the audit universe, and coordinating data research across audit, analytic and client teams. A DDCA COE Manager will assist in both development and execution of IAG data driven initiatives and will assist the team in elevating the quality of analytics throughout IAG, identifying opportunities to use data in innovative ways, and to supporting colleagues in their Auditor of the Future journey.

The ideal candidate for this role will have a strong understanding of American Express' processes, system infrastructure, risk and control framework, and a passion for embracing data. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with audit teams to understand the data behind key processes, risk and controls to ideate and develop analytic control tests and analyze and interpret their results
  • Aiding in setting a strategic vision & tone by assessing audit needs, balancing capabilities against key objectives, researching new methods as needed, and applying best practices across the department.
  • Sustaining a close partnership with the Data Analytics Innovation (DAI) team to develop analytics in a timely and efficient manner
  • Aid in establishing prioritization principles and managing a custom analytic engagement pipeline & operational model that drives a consistently high-quality analytic product across the broader audit department.
  • Seeking & implementing auditor feedback to continue enhancing our DDCA methodology and achieving well thought out efficiencies for delivering a high-quality data analytic auditing process.
  • Developing the technical skills across IAG in support of data literacy and adoption of data-informed decisions.
Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years of relevant audit, technology, and/or internal control experience in a financial services environment
  • Experience and/or strong acumen to quickly grasp technical risks, concepts, and processes and their relation to underlying supporting data
  • Aptitude for working with data, interpreting results, business intelligence and analytic best practices
  • Analytics experience in internal audit, risk management, and/or financial services
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills of dense and/or highly numeric content in a simple and concise manner
  • Ability to break-down a complex problem into components, solve them using data analysis, process knowledge and risk/control knowledge, and communicate recommended actions with transparency and integrity
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and provide developmental feedback across deliverables
  • Attained or working towards one or more relevant industry certifications (e.g. CIA, CISA, CPA)
  • BA, BS, or equivalent degree in accounting, finance, or data science related field;
Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant audit, technology, and/or internal control experience in a financial services environment
  • Advanced degree in accounting, finance, data science, business, or management information systems (or equivalent)
  • Background in data analytics, information systems, and/or information technology
  • Experience with data analytic tools, data visualization, key risk indicators, key performance indicators and scorecards / dashboards
  • Adapts quickly to unstructured assignments, clarifying objectives and delivering results
  • Experience with (or ability to quickly develop an understanding of) American Express' business model, products, services, and organizational units
  • Additional relevant professional certifications (e.g. CIA, CISA, CPA, CISM, CAP, PMP, other data/technology/audit-focused certification)
  • Ability to lead team members in a way that encourages, develops, and delivers results


Qualifications

Salary Range: $90,000.00 to $165,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
