Position Summary

At Empower, the Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis plays a pivotal role in steering our financial strategies and operations towards achieving our mission of expanding access to quality, affordable medications. This essential role centers on navigating the creation and execution of our annual financial strategies, ensuring they not only mirror but actively drive Empower's organizational objectives.

In this dynamic role, you will harness advanced data visualization techniques to dissect complex financial data, from sales breakdowns and competitive mappings to cash flow analyses and product line evaluations. You will lead special projects that evaluate economic conditions, assess the financial impact of new initiatives, and contribute to strategic decisions.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads the development and execution of the annual financial plan in collaboration with relevant business units, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Conducts a thorough analysis of financial data (sales breakdown, competition mapping, pricing, cash flow, product line evaluation, and capital additions), KPIs, and operational metrics, utilizing data visualization techniques to communicate insights and deliver monthly financial presentations.
  • Augments dashboards and management reporting packages to support leadership with enhanced business insights to drive better strategy and decision making.
  • Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Analyzes and optimizes cost structures to improve efficiency and profitability.
  • Monitors and assesses financial performance against budget and forecast, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborates with various departments to gather and analyze financial data, provide insightful recommendations, and contribute to the overall financial health of the organization.
  • Enhances financial reporting and analysis capabilities, implementing best practices to increase visibility and transparency, and drive process automation and optimization.
  • Leads special projects, such as the economic evaluation of divestitures or acquisitions, the financial effectiveness of internal operations, and the product performance.
  • Stays abreast of industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to financial planning and analysis.
  • Fosters a creative and collaborative work environment, encouraging teamwork, and knowledge sharing among team members.
  • Provides mentorship and professional development opportunities to team members, supporting their growth and success within the organization.
  • Monitors and evaluates the performance of direct reports, leveraging competencies, KPIs and feedback.
  • Collaborates with department leaders to determine headcount needs and participates in onboarding and hiring process.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, including building dynamic Excel models and presentations for executive consumption.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in financial modeling, data analysis, and statistical techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with a commitment to delivering high-quality work products and actionable insights.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA, CFA, or advance degree a plus.
  • 3+ years of working experience in financial planning and analysis required with a focus on budgeting, forecasting and financial modeling required; investment banking/PE experience a plus.
  • Experience with ERPs, accounting software, BI tools, and financial planning tools a plus.
  • Previous experience in the healthcare or pharmacy industry a plus.
