The Manager of Laboratory Services oversees the daily operations of a designated laboratory section, ensuring compliance with CLIA 88, OSHA, and accreditation standards. They uphold the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital while managing laboratory functions and maintaining regulatory adherence.

Technical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skillsAbility to mange multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and prioritize scheduling of work.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and level of expertise to evaluate quality of services, tests, and related procedures.
  • • Ongoing knowledge of all State, Federal and regulatory agencies rules and laws pertaining to laboratory.
  • Proven success in training and developing both technical and non-technical team members.
  • Provide technical expertise and support department functions through collaboration, standardization, integration and oversight of related services.
  • Actively manages daily operations of laboratory
  • Responsible for managing assigned selected aspects of laboratory processes or shifts, which may include workflow, quality control process, writing/reviewing procedures, performance improvement activities, training of new employees, advanced problem solving for customers and coworkers, department equipment or computer maintenance and upgrades, or other tasks assigned.
  • May work with analytical testing of blood and/or human biological specimens as needed


Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science.
  • Four years of relevant experience.Certified Histotechnologist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) Board of Certification (BOC).
  • Digital pathology and IHC experience, preferred.
  • Florida Supervisor License eligible
