Manages, monitors, and participates in banking and expenditure processes that produce timely and efficient monetary transactions for the University and Subsidiaries while maintaining controls over online banking, Procurement and Budgetary approvals, and Board instructed guidelines. Monitors and reports on current state and makes recommendations based on best practices and available technologies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Serves as go-to person for University Accounting Department and Subsidiaries in matters related to online banking, including wire and ACH, positive pay, ACH fraud protection, and other online banking controls.

2. Acts as liaison with Cashiering and Treasury Services, Procurement, Accounts Payable, Financial Planning and Budget, CIO, CFO, and others to coordinate and implement controls and projects.

3. Reviews and approves payments in a timely manner including University and Subsidiary credit cards, wires and ACH payments, check runs, e-payable batches, positive pay, and ACH fraud decisions.

4. Self-audits relevant processes and controls. Reports on weaknesses and findings and recommends corrective actions and best practices.

5. Works with Internal and External Auditors on matters related to banking and expenditure controls.

6. Prepares or reviews audit schedules and samples to support audits.

7. Assists with cash flow monitoring and management processes and controls.

8. Familiar with multiple ERP systems including Banner, SAGE Intacct, QuickBooks, Yardi, Jaggaer, and others as necessary to understand and implement effective processes for multiple entities.

9. Prepares or reviews monthly journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations as required to accurately close the monthly fiscal period.

10. Participates in processes that control/monitor key drivers to achieve organization goals by developing and utilizing KPIs to ensure the success of initiatives related to operational performance and controls.

11. Maintains expert knowledge of industry best practices and thought. Writes memos, reports, and other documents explaining findings and recommendations. Contributes to Departmental, University, and Subsidiary financial goals and projects.

12. Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

May supervise staff while implementing projects and controls.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS

Preferred Qualifications:

1.Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) designation

2. Familiarity with the Banking or Procure-to-Pay industry

3. Banner and higher education experience

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Master's degree in Accounting or related discipline or CPA

2. 5-7 years of successful, effective, and progressive experience in leading a team of financial professionals, or three or more years Public Accounting attest, compilation or consulting experience, or combination of two.

3. Ability to articulate and defend the unique Christian educational mission and vision of Liberty University and its subsidiaries to a wide variety of individuals and groups.

4. Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations

5. Working knowledge of accounting and financial processes (financial close, reporting and consolidations, budgeting, etc.)

6. Working knowledge of Microsoft office suite (particularly Excel) and accounting software (e.g., Banner)

7. Well-organized with ability to prioritize.

8. Ability to carry out tasks independently and collaboratively.

9. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; attention to detail and problem-solving ability

10. Ability to lead, motivate and develop staff and work effectively with cross-functional teams.

11. Individual must not be in default on any federal student or parent loan

12. Individual must not be convicted of, or pled nolo contendere or guilty to, a crime involving the acquisition, use, or expenditure of federal, state, or local government funds, -or- be administratively or judicially determined to have committed fraud or any other material violation of law involving federal, state, or local government funds (CFR 668.14(b)(18)(i))
