Lead a team of Baird Associates in the development, training and implementation of a client centric wealth management experience. Provide financial planning expertise and support for Baird Financial Advisors. Must be able to lead a team and work as part of a team that is geographically diverse, meaning you must support team initiatives while often working independently. Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Activities and duties require a high level of organization and expertise. Travel requirements will be contingent upon location.

As the Manager of Financial Planning, you will:
  • Lead a team of Financial Planners to strategically guide FAs to deliver a wealth management experience to their clients and prospects.
  • Coach a team of Financial Planners to increase the Planner’s technical and strategic proficiency.
  • Work with others in Wealth Solutions to develop standard deliverables and service tiers to ensure consistent support across the firm.
  • Have an understanding of the products and services offered within Wealth Solutions Group and identify cross referral opportunities within those departments. Recognize when to involve other specialists within the firm in a particular situation.
  • Work with your Wealth Center team members to guide Advisors on delivering a wealth management experience through a service model that focuses on a standard of care.
  • Be able to answer basic to intermediate-level tax and financial planning questions from clients. For more advanced questions, be able to research solutions and/or work with other department members or professionals to find an answer.
  • Be able to interpret various planning documents, including account statements, annuity contracts, Social Security benefit estimates, life insurance policy documents, tax returns, etc.
  • Provide training on financial planning software for FAs and CSs who wish to create plans on their own. Includes explanation of general functionality, point-and-click navigation through the program, and detailed assistance in understanding calculations.
  • Help create and deliver written articles and presentations for clients as well as other professionals on a variety of financial planning topics.
  • Review and approve final comprehensive financial plans and various financial analyses prepared by Financial Planners.
  • Adhere to major compliance issues.
  • Perform special projects and assignments as required.

What we look for:
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, or degree in unrelated field and relevant work experience.
  • 5 years of experience in the financial planning field.
  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP) or similar license required. Basic brokerage licenses (Series 7, 66). Additional licenses (CPA, CLU, CIMA, etc.) a plus but not required. Prior Leadership roles preferred.
  • Strong computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Experience creating client analysis in Excel and PowerPoint from scratch.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects and work under strict deadlines at times.
  • Ability to work independently on projects and effectively relate to others in order to accomplish work responsibilities and objectives.
  • Strong writing and presenting skills.
  • Ability to act as a team player, assisting others in the department when necessary, is mandatory.
  • Strong computational mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Ability to travel. Travel time and duration may vary based on location.
  • Advanced education in a specialized area such as tax planning, estate planning or executive compensation is a plus.


Additional Details:

Compensation Information:
  • $90,000-$125,000 annual salary*
  • Bonus potential of up to 25% of base salary

*Compensation and bonus are commensurate with experience, performance, and/or firm profitability
