Job Summary

Reporting to the District Director of Information Security, the Manager of Information Security Operations is responsible for effectively utilizing technology, policy, and training to provide security of data and systems for Tarrant County College ( TCC ). This position is also responsible for evaluating, testing, implementing, and operating information security tools and devices and performing other tasks to assess and improve information security across the district. Serves as an advocate for computer systems security within the College.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Performance Requirements*
  • Actively monitors the security of networks, services, workstations, mobile devices and any other systems or process required for the storage or use of data for TCC
  • Performs as Lead Incident Response Team member for all TCC Security Incidents
  • Performs multiple general security functions including security system design, incident response, threat intelligence, business continuity and disaster recovery, forensics, etc.
  • Assists in selecting the security awareness training material and reports the results of yearly training
  • Assists in selecting recurring advanced security training for the Information Security Office
  • Assists in the development and enforcement of information security policies, standards, procedures and processes
  • Recommends security technologies for TCC
  • Oversees anti-phish operations to improve TCC's response to phishing attacks




General Supervision and Management
  • Supervises professional staff with the responsibilities of hiring, training, evaluating, and mentoring
  • Provides leadership for a team of Information Security professionals


Service Excellence
  • Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
  • Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College ( TCC )
  • Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College


Supervision

Works under the general supervision of the District Director of Information Security

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and four (4) years' working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements; or an equivalent combination of education and working experience
  • Two (2) years' experience supervising (e.g., managing and evaluating the performance of others)
  • Current Certified Information Systems Security Professional ( CISSP ), Certified Information Security Manager ( CISM ), or GIAC Security Essentials ( GSEC ) certification
  • Texas driver's license Class "C" or equivalent and acceptable driving record

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least one (1) year's working experience with security compliance standards such as FERPA , HIPAA , PCI , or GLBA
  • At least one (1) year's working experience with security standards or frameworks such as ISO , TAC202, SOX , or PCI
  • At least one (1) year's working experience with networking or current networking certifications such as CCNA , CCNP , or CompTIA
  • At least one (1) year's working experience in system administration or current certifications such as MCSE , or CompTIA
  • At least one (1) current technical security certifications such as CEH , GCIH , GCFA , GCIA , CESA
  • At least one (1) current process/framework-oriented IT certifications such as ITIL , COBIT , PMP , TOGAF
  • Equivalent DoD experience or certifications for any of the above

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of network computing and computing operating systems
  • Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
  • Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicate problems in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work are varied, and unpredictable in scope and volume
  • Ability to analyze data and provide sound recommendations based on policy, procedure, practice, and existing regulations
  • Ability to delegate work appropriately to faculty and staff to meet College and campus deliverables
