Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Two (2) years of full time experience working in a recreational facility or fitness center (student experience may be considered). Administrative and/or scheduling experience. Must have, keep and maintain the appropriate valid NYS Driver's License; have a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations. Experience programming and supervising an Intramural Program. Experience advising or participating in sport club administration. Experience with facility management, supervision or maintenance. CPR/AED Certification.

Brief Description of Duties:
Reporting to the Assistant Director for Intramural Program and Sports Clubs the incumbent in this position will assist in leading the University's comprehensive Campus Recreation Intramural and Sport Club Program. They will assist with scheduling and coordinating all intramural related programs and serve as a program advisor for sport clubs. Incumbent will assist with recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and supervision of all sport officials and student supervisors. The incumbent will assist with facility supervision and operation of the Campus Recreation Center. They will promote the intramural and sport club programs through innovative ways to the campus community.
The incumbent plays a crucial role as a team member within Student Health, Wellness & Prevention Services. In this capacity, they will collaborate with other team members to collectively contribute to the overall functioning and effectiveness of the services provided. This involves actively participating in team meetings, sharing insights, and engaging in collaborative decision-making processes. The incumbent's role extends to fostering a cooperative and supportive atmosphere, ensuring seamless teamwork, and collectively working towards the common goals and objectives of Student Health, Wellness & Prevention Services.
  • Assist with managing the operations of a comprehensive intramural program to include the supervision, coordination, scheduling, publicity and promotion of the program. Assist with recruiting, hiring, training and supervision of the undergraduate assistants and intramural sport officials for Intramural Program. Assist with programming of special events on nights and weekends.
  • Serve as the advisor to non-competitive sport clubs that are recognized by the Department of Campus Recreation. Advise clubs of the policies and procedures for club funding, travel, and event programming at the university. Assist with scheduling of practices, games, tournaments. Work closely with the organizations in the transition of leadership each year.
  • Assist with facility operation, supervision and maintenance of the Campus Recreation Center on evenings and weekend shifts.
  • Professional Development and Committee Involvement: Participate in opportunities that promote your learning, growth, and development (i.e. classes, training, committee, webinar, etc.). Contribute to the Division of Student Affairs and Stony Brook University by attending and/or supporting events, activities, and programs sponsored by areas outside of your individual unit/department (i.e. campus wide traditions, events, programs, etc.). Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission. Hours outside the typical work schedule may be required at times.

Special Notes:This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Non Exempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.

In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $3,400 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.

Essential Position: This has been designated as an essential position based on the duties of the job and the functions performed. Positions that are designated as such may be required to report to work/remain at work even if classes are canceled, and the campus is working on limited operations in an emergency.
