The University Compliance and Policy Office works with key compliance and policy areas and individuals throughout the university to facilitate collaboration, raise awareness, provide guidance, and address policy concerns.

Job Summary

The Policy Specialist will serve several university wide policy functions within the University Compliance and Policy Office. This position reports to the Associate Vice President and Chief Compliance and Policy Officer.

Department-Specific Responsibilities
  • Provides primary operational, communication, and technical responsibilities for University Policy.
  • Coordinates with the University Faculty Council Director, University Chief Compliance Officer and attorneys in the Office of the Vice President and General Counsel regarding policy development, management, and review procedures.
  • Facilitates the university's policy governance framework and maintains the complex policy website and database structure.
  • Serves as a resource for units across the university in the formulations of policies and procedures.
  • Assists departments in the policy review and approval process.
  • Liaisons with internal policy-making groups to educate on the university's policy approval process and assists with communication to university community of all policy changes.
  • Organizes materials and support for the Policy Advisory Council (PAC) and specific policy workgroups, as needed.
  • Monitors existing policies and identifies areas where new policies or policy updates are required.
General Responsibilities
  • Manages large projects of the most complex nature, from start to finish, ensuring on time completion within budget.
  • Analyzes, tracks, forecasts, and reports on project metrics and shortfalls.
  • Communicates ongoing changes in tasks, goals, or performance; supervises and trains project staff as needed.
  • Develops and maintains project schedules, goals, and communication.
  • Matrix manages teams to develop, evaluate, and revise project processes.
  • Collaborates with other departments to ensure that project objectives are achieved within established time frames.
  • Participates in client meetings, contract finalization, and development of requirements and specifications.
  • Provides guidance and support to less experienced peers.

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
