JOB DESCRIPTION:
Position Title: Manager , Product - Electro-Pneumatic Braking Sys
Reports To: Director, Prd Grp Brake Control

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for developing & implementing regional product & customer strategies for various Electro-Pneumatic Braking System (EBS) Product Lines within Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems, LLC (BCVS). Position has commercial responsibilities relative to product changes, pricing, profitability & contract review at the regional level. Supports budgeting & forecasting for the regional product line. Position is responsible for sales planning functions and sets aftermarket marketing strategies for the EBS product line. The position must manage in an agile practice.

Essential Functions:
  • Develops regional product segment roadmap/ strategy in conjunction with the Group Product Director and in line with global product strategy. Must develop a strong working relationship with counterparts at Knorr-Bremse to effectively support developing & implementing a worldwide strategy for key products.
  • Translates regional customer requirements to regional and global product roadmaps.
  • Manages region-specific product adjustments together with global R&D sitting in the region.
  • Defines regional value proposition and commercialization of product line (incl. pricing) together with R&D, Technical Sales, and customer Account Managers.
  • Drives regional projects.
  • Manages the profitability of the assigned product lines through cost reduction programs, growth programs, long-term agreements (LTA), pricing & through improved plant operating performance. (This involves pricing, profitability data collection, modeling and analysis.)
  • Prepares Regional Business cases outlining the resources, timing, and budget needed for the regional project.
  • Responsible for regional financial performance based on at least HK 1 and respective regional Business Cases.
  • Feeds Business Case inputs towards regional and global product group leadership.
  • Provides regional product line input on STRAP.
  • Plans and steers the project in terms of time, cost, and quality.
  • Aligns targets and gate reviews on product with product group leadership.
  • Monitors work packages of team members and assists in addressing barriers and roadblocks to task completion.
  • Performs pre-gate reviews and supports gate reviews to release phase.
  • Initiates project change requests and clarifies scope, budget, and timeline with project stakeholders.
  • Identifies, monitors, and reports project risks/ project target deviation and proposes countermeasures.
  • Closes project - performs lessons learned and hands over to product line organization.
  • Supports assessment of market share and competitor landscape.
  • Drives competitive benchmarking activity.
  • Supports customer product strategy reflecting regional requirements (in close alignment with the Group Product Director and the Regional Key Account Management).)
  • Supports innovation management of product portfolio with regional and market-specific requirements.
  • Supports regional patent strategy and patent application.
  • Checks existing/planned product portfolio vs. market requirements via the product roadmap.
  • Monitors and control's introduction of new part numbers and product variants.
  • Defines/initiates and conducts follow-up of regional development projects for new products/product platforms.
  • Local and International travel for customer meetings, Product Group Meetings, Engineering Workshops, Plant reviews etc.
Agile Practice Essential Functions:
  • Supports the strategic vision for the whole Meta Scrum.
  • Creates a single, prioritized backlog of value to be delivered by all of the product line teams (these items are typically larger Product Backlog Items that will need further refinement & decomposition by the team POs.)
  • At the executive/meta level, supports the MetaScrum event where the overall Product Backlog is presented and alignment with stakeholders is achieved.
  • Works closely with Test Managers, Release Managers, and Scrum Master to ensure that the Release Plan can be deployed efficiently.
  • Monitors customer product feedback, as well as product feedback from the Meta Scrum, and adjusts the backlog accordingly.
Knowledge:
  • In-depth knowledge of vehicle dynamics and controls.
  • Ideal candidate will be familiar with product development and manufacturing processes used to produce Mechanical & electrical components.
  • In-depth understanding of Bendix business processes.
  • In-depth understanding of the trucking industry - its customers, manufacturers, associations, and regulatory issues.
  • Knowledge of agile practices and application.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 7 -10 years' experience, preferably in engineering or program management with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Experience in the heavy-duty truck, bus and/or automotive market.
  • Experience in electronic controls and/or pneumatic vehicle braking systems is a plus.
  • Experience using Agile principles / SCRUM methodology will be plus

  • Able to identify customer needs and builds relationships with key OE and Fleet customers.
  • Influences and motivates others, provides direction, removes barriers, leads high impact teams.
Education:
  • B.S./B.A. degree in Engineering or a Business-related field required. Masters or MBA preferred.
  • Greenbelt certified preferred.
